I have no idea why this place averages 4.1. Food and service were fantastic. We started with the Mac and cheese and bacon wrapped scallops. Entrees included the phenomenal short rib special, salmon, and Cornish game hen. All were phenomenal and with creative sauces and unique accompaniments. The drink menu was just as creative with a variety of options. Finally, the desserts we had included a rich butterscotch pudding, a decadent smore chocolate mousse, and creme brulee. Justin, our server, was thoughtful and on top of everything!

Everything about this place is perfection. Between Justins impeccable customer service and the outstanding dishes. I legit have nothing negative to say.

The chili was to die for. It has a nice kick, so be aware. But the flavor compliments the heat.

We also had their specials, ny strip and braised short rib, delish!!!

Would highly recommend checking them out

OUTSTANDING MEAL! After our spa day at Ampersand Spa, my daughter and I stopped for lunch and were blown away at the quality of food. We ordered the wings to share and a charred Ceaser Salad with salmon. The blue cheese dip for the wings was home made, with large chucks of cheese. We ate all of it, scraping the bowl it came in with the heirloom carrot slices, delicious. We they shared a Cesar salad with the addition of salmon. Again, it was outstanding! The fresh anchovies were plentiful and mild and the sliced heirloom radish was both delicious and beautiful. What a GEM!

I enjoyed this relaxed but modern spot at the Hotel Saranac. The lobby area before the restaurant reminds me of the corridors of Grand Central Station in NYC, lots of stone and glass. And stories held in the walls. Service great – I heard I arrived just after a big rush, but the staff was tip-top all the time, and attentive everywhere as a team.

Chef Christian runs a tight kitchen, and in full view of patrons. We chatted about the beef in the burgers being locally sourced and his travels to other cities to compare and contrast. I sensed culinary school background, something they should promote as a plus. I loved the burger in all ways, especially construction. And the cheesecake with its thick density and cherry filling was fantastic.

Priced right in line with both the market and the high caliber of service and product. You can see my reviews, I don’t give out a lot of 5 star ones – but Camp Fire earned it.

Fantastic atmosphere, warm mannered staff, and delicious food. I highly recommend getting either the French toast or pancakes with their in home made maple whipped butter. You won’t be disappointed. The Benedict would have been perfect if the hollendaise sauce had more flavor. The ham on the Benedict was fresh and flavorful. I would also recommend the home fries. They were perfectly crunchy with the accurate amount of seasoning.

I’m writing this not as a ‘hate review,’ but as a sincere heads-up to the management. While the menu is very interesting and the flavors were actually quite good, both my dining partner and I felt quite unwell shortly afterwards. It’s a shame because we truly enjoyed the food itself, but there is clearly a need to revisit kitchen protocols. I’m sharing this in hopes that the team can be extra vigilant with food safety and handling moving forward.

Cute little restaurant that is inside a hotel. It is located on a quaint little road and across from a public library so you feel like you are in a Hallmark Movie. We chose this place because it came up in a search for Gluten Free food that was close to Lake Placid. The Butternut squash soup was delicious, I was pleased they had Gluten Free bread to dip in it and the salad was so yummy with the housemade dressing and figs and pears! Very filling. My boyfriend got the burger and said it was really delicious. I liked how they even branded the bun with their logo. Only thing was that it was cold in there so I took off one star for that on atmosphere (I think the AC was on and it was a cooler fall day) so bring a jacket. I did hear other patrons commenting on how cold it was in there and our coffee got cool quickly too. We liked how the coffee mugs were the true adirondack vibe too. The waiter was friendly and very prompt. A good stop and we will be back soon!

My wife and I traveled frm Cincinnati to upstate NY for a anniversary trip and the absolute highlight was our experience at Camp Fire. I cannot speak highly enough about my experience at Camp Fire. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was wonderful. The food was the best I ate during our trip through NY. Chef Christian is creating pure magic in the kitchen. MAGIC!!

Breakfast; the “Backpacker” sandwich was delicious, loaded with incredible bacon, and the egg was pefectly cooked. I could have eaten solely this for every meal but luckily each meal was better than the last!

Lunch; the “Smoked Trout BLT” was the best trout I have had in years. And the “Curry Cranberry Chicken Salad” was so unique and had a mind blowing combination of flavors. Get this, and get a second order to go. 10/10.

And then we got to enjoy our anniversary dinner, and it blew us away! We shared a bowl of venison chili, something we rarely seen outside of our home, and it was hands down the best venison I have ever had. Made me question if I ever wanted beef chili again. I had the Butcher Cut, and my wife had the Blackened Salmon. My steak was seasoned and cooked to absolute perfection, and was incredibly filling. My wife said the Blackened Salmon was the best she has has ever eaten. She usually thinks restaurants over-do it with the blackening, but Chef Christian absolutely NAILED IT. Then he made our anniversay even better and treated us to a Chocolate Lava Cake. It had a unique twist of mexican spices that brought the dessert to another level. Sweet, spicy, and delicious.

10/10!! No, it was better than that, 11/10!!!

Chef Christian blew me away with every meal, and what’s even better is that he is one of the nicest people I have ever met in my travels. He remember my name, my wife’s name, and better yet our puppy. He warmly greeted us whenever we entered the restuarant, came by our table after we ate to make sure everything was perfect, and said ‘hello’ whenever we crossed paths in the hotel. He went above and beyond in every encounter, and made our trip one we will always remember. Because of Chef Christian, his staff, and the amazing culinary experience, my wife and I are already planning to return for another anniversary getaway.
