If you’re looking a hidden, home-style seafood gem, I recommend Calypso.
First and foremost, the island vibes and staff hospitality are comforting just like all of the food they serve. I’ve been to Calypso before, and this time I got some clams on the half shell, conch fritters and an island-style curry. All of the food was seasoned beautifully and very well cooked. I have nothing more to say than this place is great.

Fantastic local place for best seafood in the country! Love the blackened swordfish and whatever else is freshly caught for the day. Raw oysters were great and the scallops delicious! Highly recommend! Can’t wait to come back and sample Curry and Roti! Also have vegetarian options! ❤️

My parents were just in town visiting and we went twice. Everything from service to food to staff is absolutely exceptional, great vibes and energy, and love the decor as well.
Truly incredible, highest quality and freshest seafood—including the best lobster I’ve ever had—far beyond any fancy steakhouse. I don’t even like mahi mahi and tried my mom’s—I could have eaten the entire plate. It’s 9:43 AM and I’m still salivating thinking about it. WOW.

Calypso’s is tucked into a strip mall on Cypress Avenue—definitely off the beaten path. From the outside, it looks like a hole-in-the-wall, but inside it’s got the charm of a neighborhood bar and grill. No frills, no fuss, just a laid-back vibe that invites you to settle in and enjoy.
Service
We sat at the bar, where Allison kept things flowing and Rachel handled our order. Both were friendly and attentive, making the experience feel personal and relaxed.
Food & Drink
We came for fried shrimp, and Calypso’s delivered in spades. The shrimp were large, fresh, and perfectly fried—hands down the best of the trip. We both had potato salad, and split sides: fries for me, homemade slaw for Carol. Everything was fresh and flavorful. I had a large Fat Tire, she had a Sprite, and the pairing worked just fine.
Value
Fair prices, generous portions, and top-tier flavor. We even had enough shrimp left over for lunch the next day—always a bonus.

Calypso’s is a gem. It may not look like much from the outside, but the food speaks for itself. Fresh fish, great sides, and a welcoming vibe make it a must-visit. One of our favorite stops on this trip.

I’ve been wanting to come here for years but they weren’t open on the weekends, well they are now! I really enjoyed Calypso and Estefania our waitress was so nice . The mussels and oysters are verrrrry good! Highly recommend .

What a great experience at this establishment. Don’t let the strip mall setting deter you. There was a wait, but we were lucky enough to snag two chairs at the bar. We started with some house wines which were fine. Then my wife ordered the filet mignon, sweet potato and asparagus. I went with the triple tail grilled, coleslaw and potato salad. Both meals were excellent. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium for my wife and the fish was light and flaky and very full of flavor. Highly recommend putting this place on your rotation.

We are traveling from Kansas City and stopped in from a friend recommendation. The atmosphere is casual with an island vibe, the service from Antonio was impeccable. The food was amazing. To see all the fresh catch choices was awesome. I recommend the fish dip as an appetizer, the grouper and hogfish were delicious. We were stuffed but couldn’t resist the homemade desserts to took the Peanut butter pie and the double coconut pie to go.

This is my favorite local restaraunt. I always take out of towners, go on birthdays and special occasions. The food is fresh and reasonably priced. Always feel healthy after I eat a meal here. The service and environment is exceptional. Everything on the menu is good. Some of my favorite items are the coconut pie, chicken wings, oysters, bbq shrimp and even their side salad is delicious. Probably the best place in Pompano.

Wow, all I can say!! The Mrs picked this place because of the reviews & variety of dishes & it did not disappoint. We started with the mango buffalo shrimp, the piña colada sauce it comes with was just “out of bounds”. The Mrs got the Hogfish platter “Bahamian style” with veggies & 2 sides & it did not disappoint, I got the Creole shrimp & grits special & it was amazing. The Mrs never had fish this way before & said her fish was flavorful in the butter sauce, the veggies were delish & the curry cauliflower was off da hook. For me, the shrimp was big & tender, the grits were creamy & the sauce was sweet & savory. I am a shrimp & grits person & this was the first time I had it this way, it was so good it was “sexy”. If you want great food, a unique atmosphere & Superb service, come here. Shout out to Antonio, he made our experience very enjoyable, we will be back for sure. I would give this place (10) stars if I could.
