We visited with our #1 in the area, and the entire experience was outstanding. We were greeted immediately and seated quickly. Tyler, our server, was excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable, and full of great suggestions. The Rocoto, Croquetas, and Mojito with No Name were a hit with my coworker and our customer. They followed that with Vaca Frita with Sweet Plantains and Chaufa Chicken and Ham Croquetas, and they enjoyed every bite.
I ordered a Flamboyantcy, which had a perfect balance of juices and alcohol, and the Mojo Fries were delicious. The only thing I regret is forgetting my take‑home cup on the table.
This is a fantastic restaurant with incredible food, great service, and a setting that blends history and modern Latin flair. We will definitely be back.
We tried the yuca fritters for starters and absolutely loved them. The cocktails were well-made, and everything we ordered tasted great. Overall, a wonderful experience — we’ll definitely be back again!
The hostess set the tone right away, greeting us promptly and getting us seated in under five minutes. Smooth, welcoming, and well-run from start to finish. Calle Sol feels like a place that respects both the food and the people eating it, which is rarer than it should be.
Food: If I had more stomach, I’d eat more.
Arepas 10/10 – Amazing flavor. So much so that I did not take off for the difficulty it was to eat it with the bread. You must use a fork and eat the bread at the bottom.
Sopa Del Día 10/10 – Rich in flavor and content.
Chaufa 10/10 – I have had different iterations of this elsewhere and it was by far better at this location.
Key lime pie 10/10 – Never had a better key lime pie anywhere inside or out of the US.
Portion size is definitely sharable.
The ceviche was enjoyable and was easily the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, my entrée—the lomo saltado, often cited as one of the restaurant’s most popular dishes—was overwhelmingly salty. To the staff’s credit, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely tried to make things right by remaking the dish. Regrettably, the second attempt was still over-seasoned. Beyond the salt issue, the stir-fry itself lacked depth and refinement, ultimately feeling quite underwhelming.
While I appreciate the professionalism and effort of the service team, the food did not live up to the reputation or hype surrounding this spot—particularly when hosting an out-of-town guest from a city known for exceptional Latin cuisine. I might consider returning to try other items on the menu, but based on this experience, it would not be my first recommendation.
If we lived closer we would be here allllllll the timmmmeeeee. We already can’t wait to get back to this side of Charlotte and try something new.
The whole atmosphere and staff were amazing and so welcoming. Our younger male waiter was great and had a lot of great recommendations. There was a female (maybe manager) that came and asked us how everything was – and then we saw her eating lunch – which is a great sign when a manager eats the food! She was super nice and had recommened a few dishes to try next time as well.
