I ordered the blueberry crumb cake flavored tea and it was delicious! Fruity with a smooth caramel finish. The tri-tiered tray of treats consisted of very fresh fruit with blueberry scones served with crème fraiche and lemon curd, a wide variety of tasty desserts (the strawberry crumb cake was my favorite!) and three different kinds of triangle finger sandwiches per person – cucumber dill, chicken salad and egg salad. The chicken salad was absolutely divine!
Service was amazing! Despite every table and chair being filled simultaneously, Myron was the only person serving each and every table. He was absolutely wonderful, friendly and never skipped a beat! My friend brought her young daughter with us and Myron was thoughtful enough to include kid-friendly finger sandwich options for her – ham and cheese and pb&j.
The price point is a bit high in my opinion. Each sandwich triangle is only a half of a half of a normal white bread sized sandwich. So that’s not even a full sized sandwich per person. I would have preferred more sandwiches/savory treats and less desserts. We ended up ordering a second round of sandwiches.
Overall, the high tea experience here was fun and simply delightful!
You are offered a selection of teas (there are 4 to choose from) that range from fruity to herbal to green to black. It just matters what mood you are in that day. The tea is served in nice porcelain pots and you drink from nice porcelain tea cups.
They offer a high afternoon tea and an afternoon tea service. The high tea comes with a choice of soup or salad. I have always gone with a high tea since it feels more like a well rounded meal like that.
The tower of food you get are – scone and fresh fruit, sweets, and savory. It is a nice assortment. I know other tea rooms that have more premium offerings, but for the price you are paying (much less than other tea rooms), I think what you receive is a great value! The owner’s wife bakes all the pastries – the mini-cheese cake bites, the macarons, and the cake pops. I personally think the best thing I ate was the slice of quiche.
But by far the reason to come here is for the hospitality of the owner. He is beyond kind. He reminds me of a bed and breakfast owner. He is very warm and you get the sense he truly wants to get to know each his customers personally. He discovered that my girlfriend and I like books, so for our second pot of tea he suggested a book lovers blend (that was not one of the four teas on offering that day).
If you are looking for a holiday tea experience, a nice date idea, or someplace to take your daughters (or sons for that matter), then this is a great establishment to do all those things. Highly recommended.
I’ve been here for 2 wedding showers, 1 baby shower, a few high teas and just recently lunch. Service is slow, it is one man show doing cooking, tea prep, and more. However, the atmosphere is lovely. It’s a nice tea room and the food is good. I would highly recommend it for special occasions and making reservations for high tea. It’s a locally owned business so you’re supporting someone in the neighborhood.
Had lunch recently with my sisters on the 11/27/24 and we greatly enjoyed it. I had a Cuban sandwich with the pear and walnut salad. My two sisters had the egg salad and bean soup. As a warning, if you want your tea to be warmer and stay hot longer, request it to be heated for longer, especially if you are getting a black tea.
The food was traditional and quite enjoyable. I loved the cucumber sandwich and the scones the best. All the food was good as well as the tea. You had three different teas to choose from.
I can’t wait to go back and try a different tea and soup.
Calla Lily is open 11am to 3pm and it is best to make a reservation. Would be a great place for a shower, womens luncheon or just for fun.
The minute you walk into the tea room there’s such a sweet atmosphere, as if you’ve entered into a different time zone (Victorian time period!).
I HIGHLY recommend the Calla Lily Tea Room. The food is delicious as are their teas, and Myron is wonderful to work with . ❤️
