Man this place is in the middle of nowhere. I mean nowhere, with nothing around. Not a store, gas station, and or rest stop. But then there’s this little town called Calio. With a little bar, where the service is respectful, the atmosphere great, and the food is top shelf. Just a little slice of heaven in a hellish part of America. Thank you for making my life complete.

One if the best steaks I’ve had! Was really tender and cooked just right at med rare. Beer was cool and refreshing and the atmosphere of the bar was chill and relaxed. Not a super loud and obnoxious bar as some in the area but was a great place to sit down and relax. Beer choice is limited mostly domestic beers but it’s North Dakota man up (or women up) and drink and have fun. Definitely will be going back!

Mike Westphal knows what will draw a crowd and he serves it up. On Tuesday night it’s chicken deep fried tender and crispy. The sides are simple and good. Crisp coleslaw, tasty beans, fresh roll, American fries, skin on fried potatoes, and of course the chicken. If you leave Hungary, you my dear are just too picky.
On Thursday night it’s steak. Red Angus from Montana I think Mike told me, not that I would ever be able to tell the difference. All I know is that it’s delicious. It comes with a baked potato, baked beans, corn on the cob (in season) roll or corn muffin.
On Friday it’s walleye ( maybe it’s only during Lent) so if you miss it you will have missed a truly wonderful meal.
And you’ll meet your friends, or friends you just haven’t met yet. I hadn’t been in for a while, a friend asked ‘I haven’t seen you at Calio for Tuesday night chicken’. So if you haven’t been there yet check it out.

Adding flags or something to hang from ceiling to cut down on the background noise.

Prime rib and shrimp dinner was excellent. Service was fast and friendly. We enjoyed visiting with owner Mike, very nice place. Definitely give this place a try.
