This California Pizza Kitchen is located inside the mall, and it can be a little hard to find if you don’t already know where it is. Fortunately, there are mall directories that help guide you here. They have plenty of indoor seating, as well as some outdoor seating with a bar if you want to grab some drinks. We came here for a fundraiser night for my son’s school, so I came with my wife and my two sons, and we decided to get some pizza. I ordered the Cacio e Pepe Pizza, which is inspired by the classically simple Italian pasta. It has fresh mozzarella and Romano cheeses, hearth-baked with plenty of cracked black pepper, then topped with creamy Stracciatella (burrata) and delicate shaved Parmesan. (I have to say, I really didn’t like the ice-cold burrata on top it wasn’t as good as I expected). My wife and I also shared the spinach and artichoke dip, which came with multicolored chips. My sons ordered the pepperoni pizza from the kids’ menu. I have to say, every time I get pizza here, it’s the driest pizza I’ve ever had even the ones with sauce. The sauced pizzas themselves are kind of on the drier side as well. I don’t know what it is; I guess it’s just how they cook their pizzas. It’s not the way I like my pizza. Not bad, but not great either. Next time I come here, I’m probably just going to get a salad or a sandwich instead. Service here was what you would expect from a California Pizza Kitchen or any sit-down restaurant. The ambiance is also what you’d expect from a typical pizza restaurant that serves alcoholic beverages kind of on the fancier side. Would I recommend this place to anyone? Sure, why not especially if you’re already in the mall. But if you specifically want to go to a California Pizza Kitchen, there are plenty of locations with easier, street-level access. This one is more tucked away in the middle of the mall. Honestly, I mostly came here to support my son’s school.

Great Customer Service!

Awesome food.

Seating can sometimes be a 15-30 minute wait. I highly recommend making a reservation.

There is plenty of space between the tables if you have mobility devices.

Service was horrible. Didn’t feel welcomed the whole time there. 3 staff ignored us at the door, with that I figured we were supposed to find our own seat. Just as we moved to do so then someone finally had energy to tell us to wait. Sure, no problem, we weren’t sure since there wasn’t a sign or any communication.

Got seated in a section with all kids so we asked for the other section and pointed to a table. We were told no they were closing that section down. 10 minutes later someone got the table we asked for.

The whole time there it was near impossible to get our servers attention. Head down, fast spin away. Bread? here and bye. Didn’t let us ask for balsamic. To go box for pizza and– Goodbye, left in middle of me asking and missed that we needed another box too. Then I look like the AH having him leave to the back for something else again. Never once filled our waters.

Pizza was okay, but my mom’s salad was 98% lettuce and a few drops of corn and stuff for the BBQ salad. It was pathetic and in her words bland.

Time to pay: STANDS OVER YOU! This was a near 0% tip since tipping is FOR SERVICE which we didn’t get. We got the fast food experience: here is your food and goodbye. But with him standing literally at your shoulder & looking straight at the screen and what you’re doing is awkward and rude. Plus, he wrote down our email gift card number that we bought 5 hours ago and took that the to back for the manager to approve? Then told us it wasn’t active yet and to wait 3 hours. We said we bought it 5 hours ago and he said wait 24 hours (which is it?). So we tipped because he had our $100 gift card number written down in the back.

Only reason this location is open is probably because it’s in the mall. But we’ll never be back here.

I went to celebrate a birthday and it was rlly busy but that was expected, the food was kinda bland I don’t know if it’s because they where rlly busy or what but what most bothered me was that the glasses had not been washed properly and had some sort of lip product on it.

We were shopping at the mall and decided to grab some CPK to take home. We are so happy we did. It was all perfect. We heated it up just a bit and had a great dinner.

The place is so cute and clean and the service is great, even for take away. We loved the person who helped us.

We had a loaded pizza, a 5 cheese, great bread and the best red velvet cake. It was all as ordered and we will go back there again.

They are fast, there is a place to sit while you wait or you can shop and pick it up. We were just so happy.

We came on November 19 at 11:20 AM and placed our order. Despite the restaurant being almost empty, we waited over 30 minutes for our food. We were practically the only guests there, so there was absolutely no excuse for such a delay.

We also ordered a dessert. The server even asked when we wanted it, and we said after the meal. But instead of bringing the dessert, she brought us the check — completely forgetting about it. We reminded her after we had already paid, and she said she would bring it out.

Well, it’s now been another 20 minutes, and we’re still sitting here waiting for our already paid-for dessert. This is unbelievable.

This place has the worst service we’ve experienced. Completely unprofessional, careless, and unacceptable. We will not be coming back, and we absolutely do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Prices are insanely high for such a poor quality of food. People in the kitchen are definitely not responsible for this scam, products are just bad. The salad is simply distasteful and this small Cesar salad costs 14$ without chicken?? Waiter said it’s an extra 3$, don’t waste your money here.

I love CPK’s in general… my kids love it, my whole family eats there all the time. But the Topanga Mall location just isn’t it. This is the third or fourth time we’ve made a reservation and still ended up waiting 30–40 minutes, plus another 5–10 after checking in.

This past weekend the place wasn’t even busy. Plenty of empty tables, yet they still quoted a 30–35 minute wait. It feels scripted, like they’re trying to look busy when they’re not or perhaps following Managers orders. Whatever the reason, it’s frustrating.

I won’t be coming back to this location, and I’m sure others will feel the same eventually. As a Local Guide and a food enthusiast, I don’t like leaving reviews like this, but sometimes you just have to be honest.

Seriously guys? ANYTIME You see 3-4 kids and or pregnant Woman they should be seated Right Away, no ifs no buts.

For the record, the food and flavors are not the issue.

We come here a few times each year (normally based on convenience and the fact that we have cards). I can honestly say that we have never ever had a good experience here in the 10+ years of coming to this specific location.

Tonight, my wife went in and put our name on the list via her phone and we got a text response letting us know our wait time. We arrived right on time and were told that “the system” isn’t working so it doesn’t have our name. Another family was having the same issue. They told my wife they would put us at the bottom of the queue and that we would have to wait another 30-45 mins. All the while my wife is getting text messages asking if we have arrived yet.The other family was in the same boat. My wife asked to speak to a manager and no one came. After a few minutes, I went and asked for a manger and one came promptly and told us we would be seated shortly. We did actually get seated shortly.

Once seated, we got our menus and were being pushed by the waitress to get our drink order in but we decided to order our food as well. Was not the best service at all. When drinks cane, they forgot my drink. Next, they tried to bring us another tables food. Finally, our food came (still no drink for me). My daughter’s pasta with meat sauce barely had any sauce so she didn’t want to eat. We asked multiple times for more sauce and after the 3rd or 4th time, we got a tiny little thing of sauce (which I later found out we got charged for). Put enough sauce of the pasta so if you mix it up, it actually coats the pasta.

We asked for bread and we got 4 pieces (our party was 6 people). They couldn’t believe that we asked for more. Our grandmother ordered the burger and it took forever (most of us were almost finished by the time the burger got there). They said they were waiting on the smashed potatoes, which came out when she was half way done with her burger. They also never asked her who she wanted it cooked and it came very well done, pretty much burnt.

My drink (Diet Coke) eventually came but our waitress never came back and asked how anything was or if we wanted any refills. One bus boy/helper was really the only guy helping and he understood my frustration and even mentioned how he knew this place was ran terribly. We saw our waitress and one of the managers argue multiple times.

Eventually, the female manager came and asked how we were doing and I was honest with her. She offered my kids dessert and she helped out on the bill (not what I needed), but it’s just really annoying knowing that anytime we might come here that we should expect a terrible experience.

I have zero restaurant experience but I’m sure I can do a better job running this place. It’s a joke.
