The California Fish Grill in Escondido is a chain seafood restaurant based out of Newport Beach, California. They are focused on providing fresh, healthy, and sustainable seafood dishes in a casual environment.
When visiting the Escondido location for lunch today, the orders were taken via two large touch screen menus. After taking our seats in the high-ceiling dining area, our salads were quickly delivered by the friendly staff.
The Greek Shrimp salad featured tasty grilled shrimp, marinated tomato and cucumber, pickled red onion, feta and Greek dressing. The crispness of the cucumber and red onion brought a great texture and variety to the dish. The combination of the seasoned shrimp and herbal marinade on the tomato and cucumber was so flavorful that I would prefer the dressing on the side next time.
The shrimp and avocado Caesar salad showcased the deliciously seasoned grilled shrimp with avocado, romaine lettuce, cheese and Caesar dressing. The dairy notes from the cheese and dressing made a pleasant contrast to the seasoned shrimp.
The California Fish Grill is a great place for a healthy business lunch or relaxed family-friendly outing. They offer a good value for the portion sizes and seafood quality.

Wow wow wowwww! Amazing spot! Fish was fresh! Shrimp skewers was to die for. Everything was cooked to perfection. There are plenty of healthy options.

Really nice small chain and this location was excellent. We had a group and ordered a big order to go. They did miss one item in our order but otherwise it was perfect and the food quality was much better than expected.
Particularly we loved the grilled fish and shrimp options and the fresh sides. I had grilled fish and shrimp tacos and they were outstanding. Better quality tortillas than I expected as well!

This shrimp and avocado Caesar Salad was so good! The shrimp was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The salad was dressed the right way and the ‘crunchy stuff’ (not croutons) was a delicious addition. Try the mango sea salt juice. Delicious! Very happy with this meal for lunch.

The food is fresh, healthy & VERY tasty!! Many restaurants don’t serve food nearly as good! The ambiance isn’t anything to write home about, but you don’t eat that. Nice music too. I love (crave) their Cajun shrimp tacos! The shrimp & avocado salad is great too, as are the coconut shrimp.

Absolutely love this place. Food is fresh and tasty. I have tried the shrimp skewers, the mahi-mahi absolutely love my favorite, the catfish, the sea bass, grilled chicken plates. I had the asparagus, the roasted street corn with no cheese, and a zucchini with rosemary are my favorite. I go at least 3 times a week. Excellent customer service.

Today I tried the Salmon bowl. I’m not a kale person, however this was good. Very healthy. I got it with no beans. I’m still upset the cilantro slaw is gone. They need to bring it back. I saw today they added a new flavor I will be back to try the new flavor.

Today, I tried the Dynamite Shrimp Bowl with no sesame seeds and cauliflower rice. I really like it, however it’s too spicy for me. I can’t handle too much spice. The most spice I can handle is maybe a lvl 2. This gives it a kick and the flavors are amazing. I did put green goddess sauce as extra, along with lemon and extra cilantro.

Came here spontaneously for Taco Tuesday and this restaurant definitely did not disappoint. I was greeted upon entering and asked if I wanted any suggestions by Jay, my order came in no time, and while I was eating, Karla came by to ask if she could get me anything. Afterwards, Jay came by to offer me a water cup. 5 star customer service! Thank you to the CFG team here for being so attentive. The best part of it all- the breaded shrimp taco was AMAZING. The Cajun salmon taco is not too shabby either. Food is so fresh. $3.50 tacos on Tuesdays here are a sweet deal.
Otherwise, very clean restaurant and restroom. Will be returning.

It was one of my favorite places to eat, love the salmon sockeye, which is the better salmon but they dont have it anymore, I love the cauliflower rice and loved the corn salsa side dish, which they dont have anymore. My husband loves the fried catfish and Cajon shrimp. Staff are professional and friendly. Hopefully they add some of their deleted items, I’d love to come back!
