This restaurant has quickly become one of our go-to neighborhood favorites. It’s super convenient for us, literally a 5-minute walk so we usually come here when we don’t feel like cooking at home. The atmosphere is always chill, the staff are consistently friendly and helpful, and we’ve never had anything less than great service. Most importantly, the food is always fresh. We’ve genuinely never had a bad experience here, which is saying a lot considering how often we come.
For this recent visit, we ordered:
Calamari – A plate full of just calamari, no fillers! The portion is super generous and it’s perfectly fried. Light, crispy, and delicious.
Sweet & Spicy Mango Poke Bowl – My order. The portion is huge! I mostly ate the raw tuna and a few bites of the salad because there’s just no way I could finish it all. Fresh, flavorful, and well-balanced, I highly recommend if you love poke.
Calico Cioppino – My boyfriend’s favorite. He orders it often and it never disappoints. Cozy, hearty, and loaded with seafood.
If you’re craving fresh, well-prepared seafood in a relaxed setting, definitely give Calico Fish House a visit!

Great food and service in a fun location! We tried several dishes, everything tasted fantastic but table favorites were the chips and lobster dip, bread with lobster butter and the tallow fries. The menu has a big variety with options for lighter fare up to big plates. Our service was friendly and really fast. Vibe is relaxed and beachy but also clean, tidy and organized. We will be back!

Wow, wow, wow! Based on what I heard about this place, I arrived with high expectations already, but even those were blown out the water. AMAZING food, 10/10 and you can taste the difference because they don’t cook in any seed oils. The portions are absolutely insane for the price point. Service was excellent and staff very knowledgeable on menu items. Plenty of parking available. If I didn’t live in SD county, I’d be here at least 1-2 times a week. I will be back!

Outstanding restaurant – I had my wedding rehearsal dinner catered by Calico and received the highest compliments on the quality of the food. My new husband and I have been coming to Calico for dinner since the Los Angeles Fires when we heard that the owner, Andrew Gruel, was inviting people who lost their homes for a free meal. I thought that was so kind and generous and wanted to support this type of local restaurant. To my surpirse, Calico was a mile and half from my home! We have been enjoying many meals here regularly since then. So when we needed to choose a caterer for our wedding dinner, we wanted to share our local favorite restaurant with our guests. It was an unforgettable night because the food was incredible. I highly recommend them for your party.

My family and I are from out of town and were staying close by. Very friendly staff, food was great. We had Clam Chowder, Fried Calamari, Alaskan Cod, King Salmon, and California Halibut. I had the Calico Cioppino, no complaints with anything at all.

Stopped in for lunch and sat at the bar. The bartender was super attentive and the food was delicious! We shared a grilled mahi sandwich and a poke bowl.

Nice restaurant with a good vibe. The service was great and the location was fun. I had an issue with my blackened mahi mahi, it was somehow way overcooked yet not “blackened”, the fish was very dry. The spicy crab dip was good, it could stand to be a bit spicier in my opinion. The roasted vegetables were excellent as were the mushrooms and my dining partner enjoyed the sea bass.
