My little brother recommended we stop by Calico County as we made our way to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and we are glad that we did! When we were seated, we were delightfully surprised with cinnamon rolls- not dinner rolls. And the cinnamon rolls were great! I can understand why they sell so many. We started off with fried green tomatoes, and they were just like the ones from my boyfriend’s childhood- thin and covered in corn meal. He ordered the bacon burger while I HAD to try the deep fried ribs. To be honest, I was very skeptical that these ribs were going to be good. I thought they were going to be dry and bland, and that they would give me a cholesterol induced heart attack. I was dead wrong. The ribs were not only juicy but were falling right off the bone with how tender they were. There was bbq sauce within the deep fry as well, which was a great surprise. I LOVED how much pepper was in the mashed potatoes(there was a lot). You can never go wrong with fried okra. My boyfriend’s burger was good too, but not as phenomenal as the ribs. I would definitely recommend stopping here if you’re in Fort Smith!

I thought this place was alright, just not necessarily my style of food. I like to make my plates colorful, whereas it seems everything you order here is going to be fried creating that “plate of beige” appearance. The food is tasty, but I would love to see more fresh vegetables and fruit on the menu!
The service was great. Extremely friendly, chipper crew.
The atmosphere was impeccable as well! The walls were simply plastered with historical pieces of any and all varieties.

Great place to eat. Atmosphere was very eclectic and charming. They have a wide variety of choices on the menu. Our party had the meatloaf, fried catfish and chicken fried steak. We got senior portions and had plenty to eat. Taste your food before adding salt and pepper, they season the food good. Picked up cookies on way out and they are like homemade…delicious.

We stopped here in October 2025 while on our way to War Eagle. It will now be an essential stopping point every time we go to War Eagle. I had the daily special which was turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes. My Aunt Brenda had the chicken and dumplings with roll. My Aunt Susie had the blackened catfish. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service. Plus they welcome you with a basket of their famous cinnamon rolls! They are heavenly! We also had an appetizer to start our meal. The fried green tomatoes are divine! The food was so delicious and is homemade, and real food! I can’t wait until returning next October!

Waiter was inconvenienced and in a hurry. My hamburger steak was raw and mashed potatos w/gravy had a swirled long hair right on top of the gravy. Hot rolls were dry. Gravy was broken and greasy. Mac n cheese was the worst. Cinnamon rolls they gave for free, (famous) had no icing, were cold and dry. Manager came to ask after, what he could do, after I complained about my steak being raw. They cooked me a new one to go, because we were ready to leave,
which was also raw when we got it home and checked it. They didnt offer to take it off the bill or anything. So we paid 40$ for 2 terrible plates of food. I almost wanted to cry when we left.
We were sadly disappointed.

Everything was delicious, the gravy for the biscuits and gravy could be less peppery. It tasted great but started to make my tongue burn. I had the giant country breakfast (the one with the sunny side up eggs), my wife had the Hearty Favorite (the one with the scrambled eggs)

I’m not sure what these people are eating here to give the raving reviews but the breakfast certainly couldn’t be it. First of all, the eggs were awful; supposed to be over-medium (meaning that it’s pretty well fully fried minus a small portion of the center yolk). Half of the egg whites were uncooked and gooey. Biscuits were small, dry, crumbly and looked like frozen biscuits…I won’t even start on their gravy. The bacon was okay, but super thin strips and almost $6 for one side of it. The cinnamon rolls they’re so proud of may as well have been dinner rolls with cinnamon and sugar. Absolutely zero icing in the restaurant, not even upon request. Last time I checked, cinnamon rolls have icing. They were dry and bland. Lastly, the pricing is pretty high for what small portions you get. And just so others are aware, every single meal (not ticket, each individual item on your ticket) has a “cash adjustment” charge. We paid a couple extra dollars for these charges for using a debit card. We will not be returning, nor do we recommend this place.

I am not usually one to post a bad review. We used to really love Calico County. But it has underperformed nearly every time we’ve tried for several years now. This was a pickup order. It was signed off on by a manager and someone who verified it for accuracy. I ordered pot roast and got breaded pork chops. My wife’s salad had the wrong dressing-even after emphasizing ‘french with an f’ and NOT ranch. After calling in the mistakes, the manager said they would issue a gift certificate. (Or re-make the meal, our choice). I understand mistakes happen. But both the service and food quality has gone noticeably and consistently downhill. It will be a long time before we try them again. And it used to be one of the best restaurants in town.
