Reviews
Now that that’s out of the way, we came here last minute without checking reviews because Antojitos was closed for repairs or construction or something.
There was a language barrier that caused some misunderstandings and hiccups during ordering, but to their credit they fixed some (but not all) of the resulting issues.
I saw them seat one couple at closing time, so that is another plus for them.
The downsides:
The food was only okay. The lengua was too chewy and the cabeza was too burnt. The tripa and al pastor were decent but not amazing. The spicy pickles and sauces, even their spiciest sauce, were not very spicy, other than the pickled jalapeño. Also the pickles were softer than preferred, though YMMV.
They’re expensive. 2 dishes and 2 sides with tax and tip came out to almost 60 bucks. I realize they’re a brick and mortar but the same exact order at Antojitos is less than half that, with tax and tip (I also tip 20% at food trucks, so that’s not why it was so much more expensive here).
Parking is tight and street parking is difficult as well.
The music was too loud. I’m a musician and the last thing I want is to go deaf.
They’re only open until 10.
We were a large group ~30. Marcos and his team were able to accommodate. Thought we would slam the kitchen but food came out relatively quick
Cash only. Plenty of parking.
I will say one of the best in Bay Area.
Best orange sauce I ever had(you can buy a bottle) which goes well with any cuisine.
Highly recommended!
Note: they accept cash or Venmo
