Heard good things about this spot so had to try it for myself and I’m glad I did, tried a brisket sandwich with coleslaw fries and 2 piece chicken. The sandwich was packed with meat that was really good and the chicken was nice and tender full of flavor not to much and not too lil of that smoke flavor. Slaw, pickle and a roll on the side with an Ice Tea Prefect, great meal very happy.. ended it with one of their bomb brownies
Owners were very friendly and made me feel welcomed. Only gave 4 stars because of like to try more of that menu before that 5th star… so I’ll be going back haha

Between 4 people we ordered the Big 6 and had plenty of left overs. The staff was very nice and accommodating. We arrived around noon and ate in. We watched so many people come in for this amazing food. EVERYTHING we had was top notch including the brownie and sweet potato pie. Everyone in our party enjoyed all meats, potato salad and macaroni n cheese & beans/brisket.

This place is delicious. Oh my God. The bar b q is so good. The sauce is fire. We’re ordered the chicken, brisket and spare ribs. So so good. The coleslaw is cold and crisp perfect for cutting through the richness of the meat. The beans are nice and hot. Mac and cheese, super cheesy and good. The skin on the chicken is flavorful and the chicken is moist. We also ordered the brownie and sweet potato pie to take home and munch on later. Service is excellent. They put alot of love in their food and it shows.

I got their Family meal deal ($70) to-go, 1/2 bbq chicken, half slab rack of ribs, 1 lb of shredded brisket, 1 lb of pulled pork with medium sides of coleslaw, potato salad, dinner rolls, and bbq sauce to share with my family. The meat was tender and they were smoked well. Sides were good too.
The staff is nice and the place is clean.

I stopped by on Friday with a friend of mine. She wasn’t really hungry so she asked me to order her Natural Cut Fries and Potato Salad. I ordered myself, Half Chicken and Mac N Cheese. I had to wait a bit to get help, but I was understanding because I’ve worked restaurants before. Mrs. Calhoun’s (owner) took my order then I sat in a table. After she helped few customers behind me, she asked me if I wanted an additional plate since she noticed I came with my friend. I said yes, and thank you. People kept coming in to order and others were waiting on their orders. I immediately knew this place was going be good. Once she brought our food, she noticed the table was a bit dirty so she immediately cleaned it herself before giving us our food. I loved the BBQ flavor sauce and the chicken was tender. The Mac N Cheese had black pepper and good cheese texture. I also would like to mention the cup size was perfect for my feasting. I will definitely be back! She gave good service, the food is flavorful. Even my friend liked the food a lot. I plan to go again and this time take my sister and mom with me. I hope and know that in the near future Calhoun’s Family Texas BBQ will get a bigger location so there is more seating. I will definitely be able take my siblings and their kiddos. But in the meantime I might just need place a catering order and just let my family try it here at the house, no matter what Calhoun’s Family is serving our communities with flavorful BBQ meals, good heart and staying strong through it all. Thank you for my first time experience and everything your doing to keep going with STRENGTH. ❤️

My family and I always come here to Calhoun’s family barbecue and it’s always so good!! We order the sampler platter with brisket, Pulled pork, baby back ribs, or spare ribs and chicken.
The only thing is, is that the restaurant is small inside so get there early if you want a table. The service is good too.

We went to Calhoun’s Texas barbecue in Murrieta. We ordered a slab of spareribs, a pound of beef brisket, a side of coleslaw, and a side of beans. Both the beans and coleslaw were delicious. A definite 10/10. Their barbecue sauce was also a 10 out of 10.
The brisket was served chopped up and didn’t have enough fat in it, so it was a little dry and a little bland, but it was still very tender and good. We give it a 7.5/10.
Now lets talk about the spareribs. When you order a slab of ribs, they give you a “full” slab of ribs, the container was filled to the brim. The ribs were so tender, juicy, and fall off the bone. They just didn’t have any seasoning. We give them a 8.5/10.
We give Calhoun’s an overall score of an 8 out of 10, and would definitely go back again.

I am going to start with this. I am not one to wright a bad review. It takes “A Lot” for me to do that. That being said, this was not good bbq. The meat seemed to have been boiled. No flavor. Store bought dinner rolls in a baggie. The menu was overly complicated. If you have ever had real Texas bbq the you all know the menus is simple 1, 2, or 3 meat plate with 2 sides. Simple menus for us slow people that just want bbq…. Most items had days they were on menu. I was very disappointed with the food. I walked out over $50 with tip. I really hope it gets better.
