Alright people, I am going to admit I had not intended to stumble upon this amazing gem, however, last week we found ourselves here eating an amazing, and I mean amazing supper here before seeing a performance at the PAC. Our group didn’t decide before going that evening where we wanted to eat. After waiting for over an hour at a restaurant near by for our ’20 min wait’ while they ‘cleared the table’ when we arrived about 5:15 for the 7:30pm show and we still were not seated, we handed in our buzzer and walked away in search of sustenance.
While we found that and so much more wandering into Calavera’s! Walking in I was a bit nervous as there was one table filled and the rest of the place was empty. No humans at the bar or other tables. Boy, was that misleading, this restaurant bar was awesome! Each of us ordered different steak dishes and the asada was tender and perfectly seasoned.
So I ordered the Asada Tacos. Normally you get two, however I was super hungry so I ordered an extra one. This comes with tortilla chips and salsa as well. I ordered a Mexican Lollipop to drink. The Asada Street Tacos were perfect, not to greasy at all. They were light, flavorful and I can say that they didn’t last long at all.
The chips, people the chips, I don’t know exactly what was on those chips! Never have I ever had tortilla chips that were perfectly salted (I am not an overly salty person), and bursting with flavor! I could for sure taste the usual lime but I almost think that they have some secret ingredient as well that just makes that flavor pop! The amazing salsa was there, however I used it more for the street tacos than the chips as the chips were so tasty on their own.
Then there was the Mexican Lollipop drink. It was sweet, not overly so that you would only be able to have one or two before you would sour your stomach from the sugar, but just the right amount. Then it came with the lollipop and the seasoning on the rim of the glass and that just sealed the deal.
My spouse decided that he was going to order the Loaded Philly Fries. This was a large serving and he was sure full when done. It was so good he didn’t even let me have one bite to taste, which my dear reader is not normal for him ever! That means it must have been as delicious if not more so than my tacos. He did make comment about the cheese sauce being the best he has had in a long time.
My brother got the steak melt sliders. They were so good and he enjoyed them as well. He mentioned that they also had the scrumptious cheese sauce on it. His only wish after tasting one of my chips was that the chips would have come with his sliders as well or he could have ordered them on the side as he was left still hungry after the sliders and beverages he ordered as we walked to the PAC.
While talking to the young man tending the bar we were able to learn quite a bit about Mexican Tequilas and Mexican Wines in their case. It was rather enlightening to learn so much from someone so young.
I know this is now on the list of places I will be returning back to not only to eat again but to try out their dance floor, dance lessons and more. The humorous decor, lovely atmosphere and intelligent and friendly service have added to the delicious food options to make this place a hidden gem so close to the PAC.

My wife and I had some time to spare in the area. We walked by and thought a tequila lounge sounded interesting. We loved the laid back environment, truly a lounge. We were able to talk and try fun and exciting drinks and tapas. I would definitely recommend this spot. Loved the atmosphere, service, decorations, and the music.

I simply can not say enough good things about this bar. They have the best atmosphere whether you’re just having a casual drink with a friend or trying all different kinds of tequila shots. Their new food menu is great too! The loaded tots and tequila bites(pictured) were my favorites. The drink menu rotates with the seasons, which keeps things fun and new, but they still have their classic bests like the sama special(pictured)! The bartenders are always very attentive, and the owners are almost always around to help out. Calavera’s is my personal favorite bar of choice for a night out!

While we arrived early before opening, after standing there 5 min after opening and seeing people behind the bar inside we left as the door was still locked. I am happy to update my rating once I’m actually able to get into the establishment.

El servicio y las bebidas fueron horribles, la trabajadora mujer nos ignoró a mí y a mi esposa de manera muy grosera…..

We used to love going to this place so we gave it two trys in a row this week but it has gone downhill maybe that new workers just need training not sure but drinks went down hill, atmosphere and cleanliness this time was horrible my wife tried to use the restroom but said it was lack of tp and cleanliness not worth it so we left just so she could use a clean restroom. Drinks never seam to match what the menu says anymore get the same drink and it comes back different everytime, they dont know basic other drinks like long Island only menu items. So sad to see a great spot is going downhill even a month ago it was great service loved seeing the live music but even that was not keeping us in there this time. Will be looking for a new date night place.

My spouse and I attempted to get drinks here on the Friday of Mile of Music. Not many people were inside (less than 10 customers including ourselves) and there were two bartenders so we thought now would be a good time to try this place out. Unfortunately we sat there for 15 minutes and no one came over to take our order. The couple next to us were growing impatient as well for their next drinks. We ended up leaving. Maybe it was just an off night, not sure. We’ll try again another time maybe.
