CAKE, a truly European-inspired bakery/cafe is thrilled to be serving house made, upscale sweet and savory items, such as, fresh baguettes and croissants baked daily, as well as a large variety of delicate French macarons, individual desserts and special occasion cakes! We’re proud to be serving Wrecking Ball coffee of SF, a selection of wines, beers, mimosas, fresh squeezed juices, spritzers, and more! Lunch served daily, and includes soups, salads, sandwiches (made on our fresh baguettes), and other chef, and seasonal inspired specials.

Cake Bakery & Café in Grass Valley absolutely exceeded our expectations.
We ordered two birthday cakes — a decadent coconut cake and a rich German chocolate cake — and both were exceptional. The flavors were beautifully balanced, incredibly moist, and truly indulgent without being overly sweet. Every guest commented on how delicious they were.
Beyond the cakes themselves, the service was outstanding. The team went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, and their attention to detail and genuine care did not go unnoticed.

Delightful and well presented bakery and cafe on Mill St. in Grass Valley. On a beautiful fall day before T-giving, we sought them out as a surprise treat for my mother-in-law. Very tasty offerings, and the staff were hardworking and sweet. Also there was ample space to maneuver Nana around in a wheelchair. They are located in the historic Nevada County Bank building.

It is located in a historic building in downtown Grass Valley. So cute inside and very welcoming!
I saw Christine on Good Day Sacramento ( my fav morning show) and I knew I had been missing out on this place for years!
The Croissant was delicious and there was some really delectable treats as well. They also serve lunch and coffee specialties.
It’s an upscale place using quality ingredients ! Try their soups when in the area!

The staff were very kind, efficient and fun. It had just gotten a little busier right before I walked in, so the 2 behind the counter were finishing up prior orders before being able to help me. I wasn’t in any rush so I politely waited, they gave me a tea cookie with my soup in return for my patience, not knowing it was my birthday as well . Not to mention their baked goods and soup are always delicious!

Grass Valley is lucky to have this wonderful bakery. It seems that everything here is made with great care and skill. The woman (main baker?) who runs Cake is often behind the counter keeping an eye on things, providing a personal touch. I’ve never had a bad meal here. Highly recommended!

I have been to Cake Bakery three times and was not impressed with either the staff (rude as all get out) as well as the owners salty disposition (obvi, the apple falling from the tree story). The high pricing for the long wait for a Lavendar latte and dessert that is, lets just say, “ok”…(One perk, the Lavender latte, as ordered, was extra hot *perfect) BUT Please, this is not Seinfeld and there’s no need for a soup nazi here. (Be KIND to your customers.) The final straw, I called to order a specialty cake for a party, the next day. The vague employee had me jumping through hoops and having to text the owner to see if she could simply make a coconut cake. How easy is that? A coconut cake! Lol. What? I think created in the south, possibly 1800’s? I would have to say the rude behavior is the worst. I’m sticking to Three Forks, which has fine and unique foods, nice employees and decadent desserts. No need for a rebuttal or checking camera footage on this review. A word to the wise is sufficient. Be nice. Do better.

Editing my review to say how understanding Christine was about the situation. Cake is truly run by a business owner who cares about how the community receives her business. I appreciate her prompt response in reaching out to discuss how the interactions with her staff went and how she plans to implement change in the future.

The pastries are excellent but the focaccia is very dry and too thick for sandwiches. Coffee is excellent, staff is awesome. Would recommend for a pop in to get some coffee and a treat. Oh, and their homemade baguettes are outstanding.

My friend and I stopped by Cake for a treat on a beautiful afternoon. After looking at the amazing display of pastries and desserts, we decided on a fabulous chocolate mousse cake and a glass of prosecco, which we enjoyed outside on the patio. The owner and the staff were all so friendly! My best friend is coming to visit this week and Cake is our first stop!

We had just entered the café and were deciding whether to order when a woman who we presume to be the owner approached us and greeted us warmly. She welcomed us and explained a bit about the building and the café’s offerings, saying the baguettes are made fresh daily by a French pastry chef. She was so kind both then and while taking our orders. Shortly afterward, she came over to our table and gave us a free baguette and some butter to go with it. We felt very welcomed. Great service and great coffee, and the baguette was incredible!
