Cajun steamer restaurant in Trussville is amazing! The last time I ate there was before Covid 2019.
I live on the other side of town so it’s a hike to drive. Why don’t you have one over here on HWY 280!!
I must give an excellent five star rating for this restaurant because the food was delicious, Presentation made your mouth water And to take care of that mouth was the “bold savory” flavor of Cajun cooking!
For those of us who have been to Louisiana and New Orleans; We understand what Cajun food supposed to taste like? Cajun Steamer-Trussville is 1000% the place to go eat for Cajun food for authentic bold savory flavors in Cajun culture!
This locations also serves oyster half shells!
My Hat is off to Robert, Team and Mindy, who served us as we watch the Alabama Game.
We started out with an appetizer of the Cajun seafood dish, which Which is delicious and strong flavors blended together as one. Wonderful presentation and loved that thin chips to go with it to dip
I ordered Seafood Cajun pasta Which I haven’t had that entrée anywhere for probably 10 years and I was I was like wow! You can’t find that dish from Birmingham that’s good. I do know where one is now and that’a Cajuan Streamer-Trussville
Your was the shrimp and grits. I’ll make shrimp and grits at home all the time that’s just like a staple item. I have never thought To plate this entrée like Cajun Steamer-Trussville does in their menu. There was probably a cup and a half of grits and then lauded was their bacon and peppers and sausage in flavors and spices, and all the things that go in it was on top of the grits and the shrimp was in the grits It was amazing. I never eat Cross table, but I did on that one.
If you’re reading this as a vacation or tourist traveling down, I 59 through Trussville or in the Birmingham area looking for some Cajun food that’s got a very savory bold menu that’ll make you go Yum! It’s here Cajun Streamer-Trussville!
Slaute!!

I enjoyed a very tasty lunch of Shrimp and Grits. The grits were nice and creamy topped with a generous serving of flavorful shrimp. The seasonings were spot on. At first glance, I didn’t think there were enough grits on my plate to accommodate the portion of shrimp. However, as I started eating, everything was fine. I will definitely visit this restaurant again to try some of the other menu items. I can not say anything negative about the service because I was with a large group of 40+ people and the servers handled the situation very well.

Honestly, the staff was WONDERFUL. Very polite, funny and TV’s everywhere. NOW the food could be alil better. Gumbo was okay, not much seasoning of the rue. Had a leftover taste. Oysters were not charbroil throughly. Most were still raw and over salted. Creole seafood pasta,, Shrimp and crawfish were hot, but the pasta was cold, didn’t quite get what that was about. After sending back, which I usually don’t do, it was obvious it was just microwaved. The waiter that brung it out kept looking to see if I noticed. Yeeeea buddy, I did. Other than that,,,, Shrimp etouffee, fried crab claws and drinks were pretty good I recommend. Willing to give a 2nd chance, I’ll come back.

Waiter “Lacey” was phenomenal for our party of 25+ persons. Our service was excellent altogether from Cajun Steamer accomodating our impromtu reservation via phone, seating us within minutes, and receiving flavorful food from the kitchen staff. Thank you Cajun Steamer for helping us to celebrate with family today!

My family and I ate here today and we were beyond disappointed. I’m not sure if they are under new management since the last time we came or if they’ve just decided to cut corners and save money. Either way, the food was terrible. The ribeye was the toughest steak I’ve ever had. The shrimp was 100% frozen that tasted freezer burnt still. The chicken plate my wife ordered was completely different than any time she’s ever ordered it and was simply not good. 2 adult meals and 3 kids meals costs us about $100 and it wasn’t worth it at all. We won’t be back and I now understand why the restaurant was empty.

This was our first time at Cajun Steamer. The food was good, but I wish the shrimp had been a little crispier, they were soggy on the shrimp taco. I thought that the happy hour prices were a little high for the appetizers.

I stood at the hostess stand for several minutes before a waitress finally came and asked me, “What do you need?” I replied, “to eat.” I started to leave then, but I was hungry, and it wasn’t crowded at all. She led me to my table, where she slung the menu and silverware onto the table and walked off to get a napkin for my drink. She took my drink order and I was ready to order when she returned. The food took a while, but I appreciate that because it was definitely fresh and hot. She seemed a little more friendly each time she returned to check on me and offered a to go cup of soda when she brought the ticket. I still still tipped her despite our initial encounter because maybe she just had something going on and didn’t mean to come off the way she did. Overall, I had a good experience and would go back when in the area.

I was seated by a host. It was 10 minutes before my waitress came & asked what I would like to start off with. She was very polite and very nice. She checked on my more than often which was a good thing. The food came out 15 minutes after i ordered. I ordered the boiled shrimp which was steamed a lil too long because it was hard to peel the skin off which made the shrimp tear but not too much but I had to eat some with the skin attached. The sauce I got was Cajun butter it was good not spicy just seasoned good. The drinks were really good.
