Get it before it’s gone! (Restaurant closing June 24, 2022 to become a food truck.)

The crunchy catfish is the best catfish I’ve ever had.

Great sides and menu items.

Friendly and helpful service but only one server.

Medium-large restaurant but small parking lot.

The service here was great. Low volume of people at the time I visited, but I’d say its mostly the social distancing aspect.

Overall, the food was well cooked and the taste was good. I ordered the Seafood Dinner Platter. Which came with three small pieces of catfish, two butterfly shrimp, and clam strips. Additionally, you get two sides and cornbread or hushpuppies. Large enough for one but it will leave wanting more of you split it. I’d recommend a “for two” option be added to the menu. I also ordered the fried green tomatoes, they were hot and the outside of the crust was crisp but the inner portion of the batter was just a bit undercooked even after a second try. At least in my opinion.

The interior of the restaurant is unique and attempts to pay homage to the flair of Louisiana Swamp life in a modern design.

My son told me of the new Catfish restaurant added in the shopping center near Imperial Nails and Little Caesar’s Pizza, which is now closed. There is room to get a semi truck or two in the gravel lot behind the restaurant, or on the apron beside it. There is a Gerbes Grocery store in the complex, so room to maneuver. There is a gas station and McDonald’s along Eastland drive, and they are behind them.

Came in around 3:30 and enjoyed the appearance of the restaurant. We were greeted and seated immediately, near the register. The waitress was friendly and gave us information about the menu and specials, along with their available beer selections. She also advised us that the menu had recently been updated, and they made some price changes on a number of items, downwards instead of upwards. This, as I understand, was a complaint voiced frequently, so they worked to make improvements.

We selected our food, my son had the Fried Dill Pickles and Butterfly Shrimp, I chose their half-pound Cheeseburger with fries. The serve Coca-Cola® brand soft drinks including Mr. Pibb. Assorted Teas are available, including flavored.

The food arrived hot and fresh. The burger was neatly made, with crisp edged-patties stacked with American cheese, lettuce, pickles, tomato, and onion.. I chose mustard and ketchup as condiments, along with a little salt and black pepper on the veggies. I like a larger meal, and I was not disappointed, I didn’t leave hungry.

The fries were crinkle-cut and seasoned with spices, with a good, crisp bite. They were good. My son loved his shrimp and pickles. The pickles were breaded very nicely, with a generous basket. I tried the pickles, but shrimp isn’t on my personal menu. We were offered a different dessert, Funnel Cake Fries. We were interested, but full enough, already.

The service was pretty awesome, the waitress was attentive and we never had to ask for refills. She hustled and did an excellent job.

The restaurant was clean and attractive. Chairs were roomy, and the tables steady and large. Booster seats and highchairs are available, as are spare chairs. The music was country and bluegrass. The walkways were generous and uncluttered, and the bathrooms rather spotless.

There is room to make adjustments for larger parties, and plenty of extra seats available. There is a change machine at the counter, as they have a pool table set up. There is a wheelchair ramp and parking, the entryway is roomy, with wide doors.

There are plans to open a patio after they make some improvements to the outside bar. We do plan to come back, as we enjoyed the experience and food. Glad to have a different option in the Eastland area. I’m looking forward to trying their Pork Tenderloin.

12/11 update. My son brought me the Pork Tenderloin sandwich topped with tomato, lettuce, pickles, and onions with the seasoned fries. While it was a little smaller than some tenderloins I’ve seen, it was still filling and quite delicious. The seasoned fries were plenty hot and tasty, too.

New visit, August 4, 2021

Ordered the Mesquite Grilled Chicken breasts with baked beans and Cajun Rice, with cornbread. The food was delivered quickly, hot and fresh, with an ample serving, which filled me pretty well, but we gid something different this evening, tried the Funnel Fries, which were delivered piping-hot with a cup of confectioner’s sugar. They were a perfect topper to the meal, and I’m glad we ordered them!

Sadly, the Cajun Catfish House will be closing on 24 June citing costs, difficulty keeping employees, and our “Building Back Better” economy. We will miss them, and they will be carrying on as a limited menu food truck. Best of luck to our friends at CCH!

Nice family-friendly restaurant. We’ve been twice and it wasn’t busy either time. Great service both times. Catfish, gator, and frog legs are all great, as well as the popcorn shrimp and clam strips. Cajun pasta was good, but the side salad was lacking (just iceberg lettuce and shredded cheese). My kids loved the cornbread. Recommend the house chips and fried potato salad, too!

The food and service were both great. I ordered a “Swamp Platter “. The Catfish on the platter was some of the best I’ve eaten. The frog legs were great and the gator bites tender. I usually don’t care for creamy Cole slaw but decided to try some – delicious! We’ll definitely be back.

Service was excellent! Food, not so much. Sprinkle some seasoning on the fish. The Cajun seasoning is good but it doesn’t blend well with the catfish. I had the grilled catfish, baked beans Cole slaw cornbread was served cold Mac n cheese. The sweet tea and lemonade was delicious. Fried catfish was subpar. I think they would have better food it there was more flavor. Again the server did a dynamite job taking care of our table.

Food was fantastic. We had crab cakes fried oysters and fried green beans as appetizers all were amazing. I had the fried catfish green beans and Cajun rice again all great. The wife had the beer battered cod with creamy coleslaw and green beans she loved it. Only thing neither of us liked was the hush puppies. They were just a little to dense for us. The wait stuff was excellent.

I don’t care for fish but this was good. I had the boiled shrimp. The rice bed the shrimp came on was fabulous. There were 8 in my group. We shared the Buffalo Chicken dip and crab cakes. Both were very good. My husband likes fried fish of any kind. He said the catfish was excellent. My 4 year old granddaughter ate every bit of her mac ‘n cheese, applesauce, and fries.

Absolutely the best catfish anywhere in Mi-Missouri! The Swamp Platter is awesome as well. They have frog legs, gator and pasta dishes too! The staff is always very friendly and attentive. We missed the restaurant when it closed in St. Martins, but the Eastland location is a lot closer to Jeff City and downtown. It’s a whole lot bigger than it was before, including a sit down bar. We’ve already visited several times since they opened and had a great experience every time. I highly recommend you try it out if you haven’t. I guarantee one visit and you’ll be hooked!!

The decor is beautiful. I was a regular patron of the location in St. Martins. I ordered the two piece catfish plate. I thought it was a little over priced. The service was slow and the server was not very friendly or helpful with the menu. The fish filet’s were over cooked yet at the same time soggy on the bottom with the dirty grey meat that tastes so bad. The breading was very bland also. The hush puppies were not done in the middle and it was like eating cornmeal glue. The red beans and rice were entirely too salty and had a weird tang. The corn on the cob is frozen. The corn I had tasted freezer burned. I hate to say it because the St. Martin’s location was my favorite place to eat, but I will not be returning to the new place. The food is over priced and was not very good compared to their previous location.
