Reviews
The borscht was questionable (authenticity wise).
The short rib wasn’t overly seasoned, which I liked. Just a bit dry, but that’s fine, the creamy mashed potatoes made up for it. Overall, I enjoyed my meal.
The service was great, attentive and amiable staff.
Would come back 🙂
Oysters: 5 star
Ravioli: 5 star
Calamari: 3 Star very average
Ribeye Steak: 1 Star the taste was terrible I couldn’t take more than 1 bite
The steak had such a strange taste that we have never tasted before, almost like the cut of meat was old, and I’m not saying that it was, but I couldn’t take more than one bite and couldn’t even swallow it. It was ordered as medium rare.
This is my honest review, as someone who dines out weekly at steak restaurants.
Ask for the Decor, it’s very clean, but a little bit dated and comparison to other current steakhouse restaurants.
The presentation of the food is very nice.
The service was exceptional. I forgot the waiter‘s name, but he was an Egyptian gentleman.
Do not let the 4.2 rating fool you- as my rating is based on new management in my opinion this place is a 5.0 rating.
Mario the manager has been fantastic every single time, along with Milan, Rhiannon(Bartender), and Carmen- they all are friendly and approachable.
I believe the menu recently has changed and they now cut their meats in-house- which i believe allows for slight savings for customers. They always have a fixed dinner menu during christmas, valentines or mothers day.
I recently have been eating their 12 OZ Veal Parm with side of fettucine alfredo- it is fantastic. Their butter is really nice- it is slighlty sweet.
Their drinks are fantastic and all are two oz alcohol.
The bartender Rhiannon does a fantastic job with mixed drinks- the consistency of well tasting strong drinks is really nice. I find myself missing her drinks when out elsewhere.
Ambiance is nice, always good music play lists.
They have a dinning room, along with a middle area and a bar – well spaced and dimly lit.
Highly recommended.
Our server, John, was incredible. He struck the perfect balance of attentive and relaxed — we never felt rushed, he made us laugh, and he genuinely elevated the entire experience.
The food and wine were outstanding. The Wagyu steak deserves its own shoutout… absolutely immaculate. They also had a live saxophone player who was amazing and added such an intimate, romantic ambiance to the entire night. And to top it all off, they surprised me with the most beautiful dessert board, complete with a giant sparkler to celebrate my birthday.
It was truly a magical evening. I didn’t realize you could have such an intimate, customized experience like this in Toronto/Mississauga — I’ve only ever experienced something similar in Atlanta — so it was such a wonderful surprise. Cagneys exceeded every expectation, and we can’t wait to go back!
So, We decided to go here for an early Valentine’s Day.
The waiter always seemed like he was in a hurry , didn’t really have much of a personality , unfortunately. .No warm greeting, no nothing. For a fancy restaurant, that’s not gonna cut it.
They charge thirty bucks for 2 big pieces of saganaki cheese!! They don’t warn you that there’s 2 big pieces. It’s too much food anyways.
First Off they had some guy doing a sound check and playing a trumpet which drove us crazy, who wants to sit at dinner and keep hearing “check one two…” every 5 minutes during what’s supposed to be a romantic dinner??? That kind of thing should be done earlier in the day. I have a lot of musician friends and they go in in the mornings to do that.
I had the chicken and it had truffle oil.
It tasted like fish.!! I’m not the type of person to complain about my food as i’ve read too many horror stories , so I wasn’t going to say anything , and I kept trying to eat it , thinking it was my imagination. Then I made my husband have a bite and he confirmed what I suspected. He then told me that I have to speak up.
The restaurant was pretty good about it. I mean, 4 different people came by 2 apologize, and they did take it off the bill.
What I couldn’t get over was when the chef came over and he blamed using a cheaper truffle oil.
First of all, this is not a cheap restaurant. So when you’re charging that kind of money, you shouldn’t be cheaping out on ANYTHING.
Secondly….I’ve had truffle oil and truffles in the past, and it should not taste fishy at all.
See photos attached for the definition of truffle taste and why your chicken would taste like salmon or fish!!
The only way I can describe it is it tasted like salmon and I hate salmon so I wasn’t enjoying my meal at all..
So either the truffle oil was extremely expired , or there was cross contamination.
Either way it wasn’t good.
Would I come back no……
That put me off. There are so many other restaurants out there. So unfortunately, I won’t be back.
They lost a long time customer from that.
