If you are looking for a cozy restaurant that serves delicious food with a vibrant atmosphere, Cafe Roma checks off all of those boxes.
This was our second visit to this downtown eatery, this time with some good friends. I really enjoy dining here. It’s a special place to eat and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to do so. Everything from the exposed brick, to the linen tablecloths and subtle music in the background, really creates a welcoming atmosphere.
The food is excellent. My wife had the salmon and I chose the Corvina. The food was hot and presented very well. They have an inviting dessert menu and it’s worth an extra few calories.
The service is excellent and our waitress was well-versed in the house specials and how they were prepared.
If you are looking to have a dinner with that someone special or a night out with friends, try this place.
I highly recommend. It’s one of my exceptional places for dinner.

We were disappointed in the food, but perhaps the dinner menu has a wider selection of options and more authentic Italian food. I love fried green tomatoes, but two of our 4 weather very hard end pieces and the topping was not very tasty. The chicken and rice soup was recommended by Isaac, and was the best thing. I had the gnocchi, and it was ok, and my husband had a burger and was disappointed that the bottom piece of bread was so wet and soggy that he could not pick it up. He thought the flavor was good, but would have loved a beef or pork selection on the menu. He had gotten the lunch lasagna in the past and didn’t care for it. They used to have fun artwork on the walls, but now it’s darker and there is only a single painting of a giant corkscrew. The music was good…selections by Billy Joel and Beatles The flowers on each table were nice amd fresh, and the crème Brûlée was very tasty, but was not warm when it reached our table. We really enjoyed the flavor, as the only photo, an empty dish indicates. The service was friendly, but there appeared to be just one server for the whole restaurant during lunch.

Have eaten here a few times and the experience just wasn’t great tonight. It was well over an hour between the time we sat down until we got our entrees. The bruschetta was amazing and we had high hopes for the main. I swear I’d rather have eaten at Fazolis. The sauce was watery and had minimal seasoning. The chicken was tender but very bland. The shrimp spent too long in the pot and were rubbery. I’d be embarrassed as a chef to serve that to anybody, much less a paying customer. It got so noisy at one point we actually stopped talking to each other.

Café Roma in Cleveland, Tennessee is a true local treasure. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the staff is genuinely friendly, and the food is fantastic. From flavorful pastas, traditional Italian dishes, and delicious house made desserts, everything tastes fresh and homemade. It’s the perfect spot for a cozy lunch or relaxed dinner, and the excellent service makes every visit feel special. Highly recommend!
Last night was perfect, restaurant was packed and they still made room to serve us. Thanks

This has to be on the top list of best restaurants in Cleveland. It is one of the best Italian restaurants anywhere. Highly recommend PENNE CON SALMON. Great! Reservations help. Remember this is not a fast food restaurant, but food comes out in reasonable time. Put this place in front of your memory when considering where to go eat in Cleveland.

Was so excited to try this place after great reviews from my parents. Maybe it was just one of those nights but steps of service from front of house to back of house seemed out of pace. Appetizer hit before wine was served, a massive lag between app and salads and an even larger one between entrees. Our server communicated but was hoping to see some support or communication from one of the owners who appeared to be up at the bar. It also didn’t help but a table near by was complaining heavily to the server and manager shortly after sitting. I feel like there were some opportunities to turn the meal around for Cafe Roma but luckily the company I was with picked up for the lack of service and food.

From the moment we sat down, it was clear the staff prioritized certain tables over others. We watched as waiters watched attentively around what appeared to be regular or prominent guests, refilling waters instantly, chatting warmly, and rushing courses while our table was largely ignored. Our waiter seemed disinterested at best, barely making eye contact when taking our order and disappearing for long stretches. Simple requests (like more bread or a wine) were met with minimal effort or outright forgotten.
The wait for our entrees was absurd—an full hour after appetizers, with no explanation or apology offered. When the food finally arrived, it was a letdown that made the long delay even more frustrating. My pasta dish was watery and flavorless, with sauce that tasted like it had been diluted rather than reduced, and the noodles were hopelessly overcooked mushy and falling apart. It looked and tasted like something thrown together in a rush, not the refined Italian cuisine we expected at these prices.
For the cost (easily $100+ per table), this was unacceptable. High-end dining should mean consistent attention to every guest, not just the “important” ones, and food that justifies the hype. Sadly, this place gets by on atmosphere and selective service rather than delivering across the board.

We had great service last night! Olivia was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious! We had pasta with bolognese sauce and meatballs, chicken parmesan and salad. For dessert, the table of 4 shared a generous portion of bread pudding. Dinner was delicious!

Excellent service, really nice restaurant, cozy but a bit noisy. Food was terrific and portions generous. I felt the prices and tge portions made it a good value for a restaurant of this high quality, the calamari appetizer would make a great meal by itself.

This is one of classiest restaurants in town. The atmosphere made me not feel “rush, rush.” I felt like I was welcome to come sit, eat, drink, socialize, truly enjoy the experience and soak up the atmosphere. The bread is to die for. The hummus appetizer was delicious and I loved my Caesar salad. My wife loved her portobello (bleeeeck, to me LOL) mushroom, purple roasted potatoes (which I loved) and asparagus entree! By the way, Beth is a top notch server. Attentive, thoughtful and so friendly! Definitely ask for her! The dessert she recommended of the Caramel and Rasberry Bread pudding was yummy!!! Definitely an A+ experience for us!
