This Cafe Rio has been very busy lately! But the employees have been extremely kind and patient with the customers, despite the hectic atmosphere. Many people come here due to the high-quality food and service that the employees offer. I have had to wait sometimes, but it’s worth it!

This place has decent food but an incompetent system. I came to pick a to-go order that was 40 minutes behind. There was a line out the door for to-go orders. If I had not already paid online I would have just got in the regular line which was 1/3 the length. There were dozens of customer upset and telling me this is the worst cafe rip in the city. It may be because I door dash food from here, but every single order has been drastically wrong, poorly made, missing things, never includes the drinks. Today, my last straw, was receiving my son’s quesadilla with a bite out of it and my soup (which was cold, and I live across the street) came with a completely used and dried up lime. Haven’t been here for years and surprisingly, food and my experience is actually quite impressive. I avoided CafeRio for a while for I feel like the food was mediocre, kitchen and dining areas were not clean. Fast forward after few years, the food tasted fresh and yummy, kitchen and dining areas are clean and well maintained, crews are friedly. Hopefully, this is consistent with other locations as well

I visited this location the other week after having had positive experiences with food from Cafe Rio when they’ve catered at my work. The service and atmosphere were fine. The food quality was fine. Nothing in terms of quality was either bad or inspiring.
What was outright bad (and prohibitively so) is that Cafe Rio charges $10.49 for cheese in a tortilla, nothing on the side. That’s over twice as expensive as Costa Vida ($4.99), which starts at a lower price point ($8.79) and respects customer choice by subtracting nearly $4 if you don’t want the rice and beans on the side. There’s no such consideration at Cafe Rio. Be prepared to pay for food you don’t get.
I’d describe the food I had as similar to Costa Vida in quality, although I prefer the tortilla and house dressing at Cafe Rio a bit more. Unfortunately, that “bit more” is worth nowhere close to what they charge. If the quesadilla were $5.50 total, not +$5.50 (+110%) compared to their competitor’s pricing, I would probably be interested in returning.
Add in a drink and a small sample of their house dressing, throw in tax, and it’s pushing the $15-20 per person range, with well over a quarter of that being a charge for food I didn’t get. YMMV.

Loved this place and wish we had this on the East Coast. The Sweet Pork Barbacoa on a salad was chefs kiss. Great deal for fast food! Love that they make fresh tortillas too!

I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and well-kept this Cafe Rio location is compared to others I’ve visited. The space looks fresh and inviting, which made the whole experience even better. I ordered the pulled pork salad — one of my favorites — and it was delicious as always. Cafe Rio is my go-to for a quick, tasty meal, and I’ll definitely be coming back to this Cottonwood Heights spot!

Ordered catering for my wedding. Arrived on time to pick order and it took approx 45 min to an hour for the ordered to finally be completed. The girl at the register was rather rude… I asked a 3rd time for an update and she stated I don’t know, we are behind, you will just have to wait”. Once the order was finally completed I was given a free drink cup. Upon getting home and opening the items… the meat, rice, and beans were barely half way full.

The food is absolutely delicious!! However I have noticed ever single time I go to pick up my food when I order online, I always have to wait there for at least 15 min. I arrive at the promised ready time yet they only seem to start my order when I arrive. I understand service is slower when it is busy. But no matter what time of day I arrive or whether it is busy or not, I have to sit and stare at them for 10 minutes until they ask my name then get to work.

Customer Service was a bit lacking. I’m fluent in English and Spanish so clearly I don’t appreciate it when customer service personnel don’t maintain the level of professionalism and respect for customers that I’m sure your organization included in their training.
On this visit we were so looking forward to the return of Fideo Friday having enjoyed that plate so much before. However, the food quality which I’ve almost always rated as great, was at best good. The food quantity was so disappointing, with less noodles, and less sweet pork, that even with all the add-ons, the ratio of pork to noodles unfairly made the quality of the food appear to be less than what we know is true.
From a marketing standpoint this was clearly a fail, a poor attempt at reintroducing this dish back to your target market, loyal customers, and new customers.
I had strongly recommended that a family member order the fideo, expecting it to be a memorable, and enjoyable meal. Instead I was so embarrased by the outcome that I don’t know when I would want to visit again.
On the positive side of all this, I had ordered a side of the carne asada, recently being touted as a great choice, well it is. If I may, consider a little less garlic. Thank you.
