Very good Rio Location Excellent food , clean dining room , friendly crew. I got a sweet pork salad bowl and a mint limeaid . Looks like their ice machine has been out of comission a while – hey corporate , can you come lend a hand and help them fix it ? I nominate Macgegor for employee of the month with some paid vacation See ya’ll next visit.

I love this restaurant as a whole. This location is on my husband’s way home from work but it’s got enough room for improvement that we sometimes avoid it in favor of Franklin or Eagle.

The good:
-Overall, the food is fresh and made to order
-The staff is always kind and hard at work

The less good
-Their most popular ingredient (sweet pork!) is all over the place. It’s not supposed to be spicy. And it’s never spicy at the other Cafe Rios, but here it’ll make your eyes water half the time.
-To-go orders are sometimes treated with less care than pickup orders standing in line. The salad tortillas aren’t toasted for to-go orders, which means that they are soggy by the time you pick them up and taste almost raw

I’m not sure why there’s so many negative reviews about this place. I love this location. They’re fully staffed, they may not greet you when you walk in, but that doesn’t matter to me. They have a nice, clean bathroom. Huge dining area. They did forget my limes for my burrito bowl, but if I’m gonna be upset over forgotten limes – I’d be wasting my own time. Overall, I’m happy with my order! I’d definitely recommend this location 🙂

Cafe Rio is the spot. Unfortunately, I just haven’t had the best experience at this location. Meridian on Tenmile is my go-to.

Our experience on Broadway was disappointing. The ice machine was out, the place was dirty and we just did not feel we were getting ‘fresh food’. Each item we got, we were given the remaining remnants of the food in each container. It was only 6:00 PM, It wasn’t closing time in which I could see that happening. Employees were friendly and knowledgeable though – that is a plus! I know this location gets more traffic than most, especially being close to BSU, so I cannot fault it completely. Please keep tables clean. Soda stations and napkins stocked.

Customer service was good – keep that going for you!

Ok so I eat a lot of nachos. I’ve eaten a lot of Cafe Rio. This was my favorite experience. We came in just before the lunch rush and the place was empty but everyone was busy working on something. We were greeted warmly, the homies making the nachos was pure art, it was delicious, and the music select made my elder emo heart happy. 10/10.

I love cafe Rio and have been going in SLC for years. I got a veggie salad, and while it was tasty everything was just soggy. The beans weren’t strained at all and the lettuce was soaking wet. It’s not really what I want in a salad. I’ve had this problem at other cafe Rio locations quite a lot in recent years. I just think if a little more care went into the prep, it could be as good as it used to be.

P.S. please get a recycling bin!!

My mobile order was 55 minutes past the promised time. My salad was nothing but shredded lettuce, none of the correct toppings, and nowhere near the cafe Rio standard awesomeness. All of the quesadillas were cold and hard as a rock. Love love love Cafe Rio and will definitely be back…just not to this location. $50 down the drain. Kids won’t touch the quesadillas. Super don’t blame them.

Cafe Rio catering is the best. They arrive on time, set up is perfect, and the food is fresh and hot. My only ‘complaint’… too much food! We always have so much left over, but the staff eat on it the next day too.

If I could rate zero I would. The service was terrible, I told two employees that the drink machine was giving watered down soda, and nobody seemed to care. $6, two watered down sodas. Then we got our food, something tasted off. The lettuce had either been frozen or fridge is having issues, there was so much water, wilted lettuce, hardly any beans, I could go on. My daughter ‘s stomach is already upset and we haven’t made it home yet.

Found plastic in my food — disappointing response from staff

I found a large piece of plastic (about two inches long, looked like a brush bristle) in my food and nearly swallowed it. When I brought it to the employee’s attention, they didn’t seem concerned and just said, “At least it’s just plastic.” No apology, no offer to make it right. Really disappointing experience — I expected better food safety and customer care.
