This place is a hidden gem. I was looking for a place that did hand patted hamburgers that are so hard to find everybody does the pre-frozen Patty’s that just don’t cut the mustard…… This place the hamburger is so juicy the bread is fresh, and the spice they use for the onion strings is amazing. A must go!

Holy cow if you have not gone yet then I suggest you RUN!! Inside and out of the building are immaculately clean, the staff are awesome, and you can’t beat the price!! No matter what it is that you order it is absolutely worth the wait!!! This is one of those hidden Little gems in our beautiful valley were you walking with a rumbling belly and leave stuffed filter than a Thanksgiving turkey!! I ordered one meet three sides and a sweet tea I believe it was $10 or $11. I like how laid-back the atmosphere is the only thing I would change is every now and again I would turn the news off. It’s nice to watch the news and be in the know but sometimes it’s a little too much with all the negative and bad news. I do recommend you try the liver and onions I thought my grandmother’s was absolutely the best until I went to Cafe on 28!!

My husband and I were visiting the area for our honeymoon and we were looking for something close by, this is what we found!
While I was not impressed by the looks of this place, the food and service were great! Don’t judge a book by its cover!

Had high hopes ): the service was very lackluster, my bf got his water refilled, I did not. Server only came to the table to take order, bring food and then one other time… My fries were sooo cold because you could tell they made them before the rest of the food. Food itself, I had a chicken philly and it was ok? Pretty good but meh. My bf has the buffalo Mac baked potato and it was huge but only mid. Ordered fried green tomatoes as a side and they were mushy, cold and not all hard or crispy.. also took us over 20 minutes after we ordered to even get our food bc they were so concerned with door dash orders… So probably why my food was so cold. Very dissatisfied with this place and won’t be back. Fill your customers waters. I should have given less than the 15% tip that I gave but I was put on the spot when asked what amount for a tip.

We came to visit our friends, and they brought us to this little gem. My husband got the catfish, and I got the smash burger. Both are very good. Our server was good. The sweet tea is not sweet. Let’s say not Georgia sweet. I would definitely go back. Forgot to find out about military discount.

Definitely exceeded expectations. Food was fantastic. They even had a daily meat and three board. Catfish was delicious, as were mashed potatoes, turnip greens, pinto beans, fried green tomatoes and Johnny Cakes. Everything that came to tables around us looked delicious as well.

We’ve gotten pizza on three different occasions and every time the pizza was burnt. This time both pizzas were burnt, one of the pizzas wasn’t even cut and the fries were under cooked. The pizzas were also very salty. Unfortunately third strike and we’re done. This place was highly recommended and I’m sorry to say but I can’t give the same recommendations.

My wife and I were in Whitwell, TN on vacation and this is the first place we chose to eat. When we got to the restaurant, we got excited because the parking lot was full of locals (we knew the food was going to be great when we saw this). It did take a few minutes to get waited on because the restaurant was very busy but the staff was great! Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was very nice. Food was great! I had beef liver with onions, fried green tomatoes, fried okra, hash brown casserole, and “The Elvis” milkshake. My wife had a veggie plate and an absolutely delicious hot fudge cake. I definitely recommend Cafe on 28!

There isn’t enough space for me to say all of the good things I want to say about this restaurant and it’s owners. My son got married in Whitwell today. It was a destination wedding for us as we all love out of state. The initial catering plan fell through. In a desperate plea, I reached out to Lisa to ask of they could deliver pizzas and salads to the venue. They went above and beyond to meet our needs and special requests including GF pizza. Then, the owners themselves delivered the food to the venue. Everyone raved about how delicious the pizza was. And the salad! So crisp and fresh as if it was picked straight from the garden right before delivery. Don’t even get me started about the delicious homemade ranch dressing! We are beyond impressed and overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank you so much for helping to save the day and making my son and new DILs wedding even more wonderful. We will definitely be dining in when we return to the area.
