I ordered a several “sticks” (basically one bite of meat that’s been sliced thin and put on a tiny skewer for $1) and the pork was pink and mushy, not cooked all the way and tasted terrible.(don’t know if that was the sauce or raw pork) They replaced it with teriyaki beef- really thin that had that shiny rainbow sheen of a cheap cut of meat/ deli meat and tasted gross. The fried tofu was ok but the “spicy peanut sauce” was more like sweet and sour/duck sauce with chopped peanuts in it- not a traditional thai peanut sauce, more of a kitchen hack.
The thai tea had mushy boba that fell apart forming a gross lump in the middle and ALSO HAD A THICK BLACK HAIR on the inside. The cups are sealed before given out and I have light colored hair- so it was obvious it wasn’t mine.
I felt a bit ill after the uncooked pork and the hairy mushy boba. They offered me a new boba which was worse than the first one (but no hair) Nothing at all comped on the check, and this place is not cheap!
The atmosphere was super bright due to fluorescent lighting and I think the kitchen burned toast, because that’s all we could smell.
Huge disappointment- after being in business for a few years, now this should be better.
NOTE- If you want amazing boba and fantastic food in the best atmosphere, go to Mad Hatter Boba Emporium in Cumberland just down the road. Same prices but 10X better in every way!
The owner and his family were so welcoming, and we could tell they really cared about their customers. They made us feel comfortable.
Now, the food – wow. We started with the shrimp and crab fried rice (it is a real crab) and the chicken panang curry, and each bite was packed with flavor. The spices were just perfect, and their chili garlic sauce? Hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. I even thought the shrimp coconut was the fried rice at first, so now I’m really looking forward to trying that next time.
It was such a great find, and we’re so glad we stopped by!
