Cafe Mo Bay in Bloomfield is a gem! The food was truly authentic and full of flavor. I ordered the jerk chicken with coconut rice and banana, and it was seasoned to perfection—tender, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The sorrel was amazing and tasted so fresh.
Patrick, the owner, was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making sure we had everything we needed and felt right at home. The service matched the quality of the food, which made the experience even better.
If you’re looking for authentic Caribbean food made with care and great hospitality, Cafe Mo Bay is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back!

We found Cafe Mo Bay through Grubhub. We don’t like going out on Sundays hehehe
Our order was Ackee and Fish and Jerk Chicken and a side of Cornbread with Mango Butter. Everything was delicious!!
Of course we had to go out and try in person. We got Mango Punch, Snapper Roll, Oxtail with Rice and Peas and Jerk Pork with Rice and Peas and a side of Collard Greens. Mango Punch has a hint of ginger which gives it a super refreshing taste. Snapper Roll, is genius, we’ve never seen fish inside a roll that wasn’t sushi and it was sooooooo good lol. We wish it was more than just 2 rolls. Oxtail was tender and flavorful and Jerk Pork was delicious. The Collard Greens were good but something was missing… I didn’t see any meat pieces so probably not made with ham hock or turkey so it was plain.
We went back again by chance, we saw another restaurant on our way the 1st time so we wanted to try it but they were close so since we were already in the area we stopped in again 🙂
Cod Fritter, Curry Goat with Coconut Rice and Snapper with Callao Rice and Spinach. Cod Fritter needed more fish but it was delicious and the sauce was perfect. Curry Goat was tender and so good, and I don’t like goat because it can be gamey but this was not gamey. Snapper in brown stew sauce, this was different but worked! I just picked up the fish with my fingers lol
Patrick the owner/chef was pleasant and a pleasure to chat with.
Food does take a bit to come out but you know it is super fresh and totally worth the wait. Luckily we were there during weekdays where there are less people.
I think we just found our favorite Jamaican restaurant.

Looked to try a new restaurant to us and grab takeout from Cafe Mobay. The service was good. I was a little nervous there wasn’t anyone dining in but willing to give it a try. I said a prayer and hoped my stomach wouldn’t be bubbling. The food was ok. It wasn’t as fresh or flavorful as I would have liked. The oxtails weren’t tender with hard meat surrounded around the fat and bone. It had a little flavor profile. You could tell this was old. The jerk chicken had good spice, but you could tell it was reheated a few times where the taste was borderline old. The fried red snapper had little flavor, but the oil smelled old. The stew chicken was mid-flavor. The patties were good. The portion size of the meat and veggies was small incomparison to the amount of (Uncle Ben’s) rice it was served with. I paid over $120 for lackluster food that was reheated numerous times before it was packaged to me & my family.

This is hands-down the best Jamaican food I’ve had. The stew chicken was flavorful and cooked to perfection, and the rice and peas was absolutely amazing. Portions were generous and the service was fast and friendly. If you’re looking for authentic Jamaican flavor, with professional and friendly staff this is the perfect place.

The food was exceptional. I specifically had the salmon with coconut rice and plantain and it was steamed perfectly. It was so soft and flavorful. I had a piece of the ribs and it was fall of the bone tender. The oxtail is what you expect to get from good, soft, tender and flavorful oxtail. Expect nothing less when you come here.

Found this spontaneously, and what an amazing find! The food was comforting and delicious. We got the goat curry and jerk chicken bowl, both meats were perfectly cooked and tender. The citrusy mango salad paired really well with the chicken. The service was warm, attentive and friendly. We’ll be back!

Good Day – In NJ providing care for a family member and plan to be here for a while. Being West Indian, I always have a taste for rice & peas and either some curry goat, chicken, or oxtails. I Googled some food spots closest to me and MoBay Cafe pulled up and was within 12 mins. COOL! Jumped in the car and got to this spot that as soon as you walk in . . . the vibes hit you of good smells, music, and being someplace authentic. Ordered the curry chicken and was not disappointed!!!! Food was HOT, fresh, and had my stomach growling as I drove back to family member’s home! Sat down and had an awesome meal that had me curled up sleeping about 40 mins later! Will be going back to try other items off the menu! Prices weren’t insane either considering what is in the area.
Hands down one of the best restaurants where the food matches the ambience and vibes!

This small restaurant has the best jerk flavor in the area. Last night, I ordered the jerk chicken dinner, Callaloo, and plantains. Chicken had authentic taste vegetables were a little stringy. I would like larger portions. Vegetable patty was mediocre.
