This is my new favorite place to have a decent and semi-cheap breakfast in Downtown San Diego. It’s a nice walk from Petco Park. They open at 7 and close at 3pm on weekdays. 2pm on weekends. I ordered an avocado toast with a poached egg and it was fabulous. The Barista actually walked to my table and brought me the food to my bistro table. I complimented her because I told her I’ve been to 1000 coffee shops from here to NYC and very few places actually provide free food to table service. The tippig is optional but I’ll just come back more often. Great smile, great customer service. No drama. Just great food and my Thank you local café mocha with zero drama and lots of flavor. Thank you for making me feel welcome. You do have to ask for the password to use the restroom. But everything was pretty clean. I spent like $20 dollars on breakfast. Which for downtown San Diego js a steal.

Very cute spot in downtown to grab a coffee and food. Pastries are delicious and there’s good seating for people watching.

We ordered the salmon bagel and the avocado toast with a poached egg, both were good. The service was friendly, and we really enjoyed the food overall. I wasn’t a big fan of the cappuccino, as it lacked foam and the coffee was a bit too strong for my taste. But aside from that, everything else was good

Okay so I try to venture in different cafes in search for great ambiance and of course… amazing latte art.

Yes, I care about what the latte tastes like but I’m going for a vibe when I write. This cafe is quite quaint whit many tables and great food options—mostly pastries.

I asked the server specifically about latte art before ordering to which she replied “I’ll see what I can do”. I wasn’t too confident but there were photos of latte around when I did my research so I was hopeful.

She was very polite and kind; her demeanor was very inviting. Although it didn’t necessarily meet my latte standards visually, she executed well with the taste. Not sure if I’d be back because as stated earlier it’s all about latte art for me.

Arrived ~9AM on a Saturday morning. Please wa relatively full, but found a place to sit. Had a sandwich, iced coffee and donut.
Sandwich was pretty good but I had to use hot sauce to really get sufficient flavor out of it.
Coffee was the worst. Pretty generic but not bland.
Donut (with cream cheese in the middle) was to die for. Pretty excellent and would have again.
Service was decent, but just decent. One girl at the counter who was doing her best but clearly hard of hearing.

We had the Chanel sandwich which lacked flavor. A little salt would have gone a long way. The included cream cheese was severely lacking, making the entire sandwich a bland protein loaf.
Matcha latte was also bland. French vanilla coffee was alright, but I still got charged the full price for both drinks despite the sandwich including a coffee, which was confirmed by the staff before ordering. I should have mentioned something after seeing the charge, but the staff didn’t explain anything despite my question.
Also all of the pastries have no price listed, forcing you to ask the staff how much each item is.
Some small improvements would go a long way for this place, but unfortunately I will not be returning.

I’m grateful to small business owners that care about the integrity of their food and service. I appreciate the home-cooked style whole foods they serve here that strike the right balance between healthy and satisfying. The home made soups are great (although I usually can’t resist getting the lentil every time) and their sandwiches are fresh and hearty. I especially like their breakfast sandwiches. Nothing is ever unbalanced or too oily/salty. It’s a pleasant, quiet, and unpretentious oasis in downtown San Diego and I hope it sticks around for a long time.

Light and airy breakfast place, lovely high ceilings, great food. My salmon/cream cheese bagel was fresh & piled with salmon. The others with me were equally enthusiastic about their choices. Nice, friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit!

This lovely little French styled cafe has a delicious Quiche Lorraine and almond croissant. The coffee is tasty, and the proverbial French setting is comfortable with a few tables and chairs on J Street outside placed under downtown shade trees – with traditional French music playing inside the café, making for a delightful experience in SD.
