A romantic place with beautiful decor and authentic Austrian food (and more). The veal schnitzel was the best i had in nyc and poached bass grenoblaise was the best white fish I had in a while thanks to the unique sauce. They have an interesting wine selection with half glasses options. Also the cocktail menu is impressive as well as the spacious bar counter seating.
I appreciated real table cloths and real tall candles, it added old world charm. Also our waiter Charlie was attentive, efficient and nice without being fake. The place was not super full on early Saturday night but I know they are very busy during brunch time.

Really great place for Austrian food. Love the food, nice decor, lovely staff, can’t really ask for anything else. This is such a great place for the neighbourhood and I hope to be there more.

Have been a few times and always get the Schnitzel, my opinion it is the best schnitzel in the city and I have tried a bunch of the German places around. Probably better than most places I’ve been in Munich too.
The spätzle and cheese plate are fantastic. Raclette is good too.

This is a cute spot for brunch and absolutely worth the visit. The pancakes alone are a reason to come back, they’re “torn” and come topped with a berry jam, brown butter and chantilly. It sounds like it might be too sweet, but it’s actually perfectly balanced. I’d honestly return just for those. The omelet was cooked to medium perfection, soft and fluffy. We also ordered the wienerschnitzel, and while the portion was big, the flavor was even better. I do think they should have added a little more lingonberry jam on the side.

All in all, a really great meal, a solid brunch spot!

Cafe Brume is so worth the trip across the bridge! What a little treasure nestled in Brooklyn Heights. A dear friend hosted his birthday dinner here (Cafe Brume can accommodate dinner parties) and it did not disappoint, an exceptional experience. The space is beautifully decorated, warm, and inviting. Now, let’s get to the food . Served family style in courses was just chef’s kiss. You could taste the love and passion in every bite, every single bite. The freshness of the produce, the tenderness of the veal (Schnitzel), the melt in your mouth trout was just an experience in itself. The owners are such lovely people (were onsite) and have really created a real family environment. Cafe Brume is the perfect place for date night (with your boo or by yourself ), dinner parties, or just cocktail time. Just an all around vibe! Treat yourself to Cafe Brume without delay. I cannot recommend Café Brume enough. The food is absolutely extraordinary, and chef Lucas Harrell has crafted a menu filled with dishes that are genuinely Michelin-level in both flavor and presentation. Standout favorites for me include the perfectly crisp croquette, the beautifully executed honey duck, and the rich, tender lamb. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is genuinely wonderful. If you want to impress someone or simply treat yourself to an unforgettable meal, this is the place to go!

I just visited Café Brume on Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights, and I was truly impressed! The restaurant offers authentic Austrian cuisine, and I ordered the schnitzel — it was absolutely amazing. I love schnitzel and always try it wherever I go, even in Vienna, but theirs was truly outstanding — tender, perfectly crispy, and full of flavor.

The atmosphere is cozy and charming, and the service was warm and welcoming. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience a little piece of Europe right here in Brooklyn!

Very pleasantly decorated casual restaurant right next to the Brooklyn Cat Cafe on Montague. Professional service nicely complemented the creative menu which featured a limited number of interesting items for lunch. The cuisine reminded me of items you might find in Salzburg and the kitchen craft was top notch!

UPDATE: get the creme caramel!!!

We’ve eaten here numerous times now and it’s my favorite restaurant in the Heights!

OLD REVIEW: It shattered, yes, the crust on the schnitzel was perfection! They serve it very traditionally with lemon, capers, anchovies, potatoes and lingonberries =

It’s nice to see a good restaurant come to Montague Street because they’re kind of like hen’s teeth.

Cafe Brume kind of takes you on a European vacation as if dropped into a neighborhood restaurant in the Alps.

The room is very cozy with wooden walls and Alpine-ish decor.

The service was excellent.

I really enjoyed the endive dish and the iberico pork shoulder. Although there was a bit of chew to it, which we were warned about. But very delicious.

Not sure there was actual gem lettuce in my gem salad the night we went, but it was very tasty and I appreciate every bit of chervil that was on it.

I didn’t love the crab tart. I’m not a fan of phyllo and it seemed a bit unfinished without a binder.

We were rushing to a show but we will definitely be back and have dessert next time!

It’s going to be hard to get into this restaurant going forward. I think it’s a great addition to the neighborhood. More please

Ok to caveat this review, I went during opening week so understandably they may need some time to get things in order and find their rhythm. Having said that.. still disappointing experience. It’s a pretty small menu which is fine, but all the more surprising that 3 items were not available (I was eating at 530p so it’s not that they ran out for the day). They somehow ran out for the week and the server did not mention it up front. After taking our order she just left the menus there which was also very rare. Again, just opened I know, but I’m gonna assume it wasn’t her first day being a server. Food wise, I liked the trout. Didn’t try the schnitzel. Wine by the glass selection was pretty good. The place specializes in doing half pours so you can try more wines which is a great idea. verdict: it will almost certainly be a smoother operation in a couple months but the food wasn’t good enough to warrant a trip back.

Can’t speak to the food but probably the best wine list in any spot you’ll go to in Brooklyn heights… the fact that they do small pours so you can try different wines by the glass is a game-changer. For those who love northern Italian wines especially – this place is a must! I got to try two Jura wines by the glass for a great price, absolutely incredible. So lucky to have this place in the neighborhood!
