With all due respect, I tried this place on a friend’s recommendation, but it’s by far the worst Indian food I’ve had in Washington.

We ordered four items:

Rumali Roti – Poor quality: thick, doughy, and unpleasant. Kudos for attempting it, but you’ll find far better versions at other restaurants.

Chicken Tikka Masala – Not terrible, but I’ve had much better. The chicken was unnaturally red, likely due to excessive food coloring. The taste was passable and probably the best among the otherwise disappointing dishes.

Dal Makhani – Tasted more like butter than dal. I’ve had dal makhani at many places; while butter is part of the dish, it should never taste like eating a block of butter. This one did, and it wasn’t enjoyable at all.

Vegetable Jalfrezi – I wouldn’t serve this to anyone. This was the worst dish of the lot. It was excessively oily—oil was literally dripping from the container—and to make matters worse, we found plastic in it.

Overall, this place is not worth ordering from. Other reviews expressing similar concerns are absolutely spot on.

Great find thanks to Matt Norman’s recommendation on his YouTube channel. The flavors were spot on and we love how you can order a full order or half order so you can try everything. The tandoori chicken has a lovely marinade so it is moist and super flavorful. This is our go-to local Indian spot from now on!

In my eyes 3.9 is a perfect rating. The food is so good it’ll make a racist into a liberal. Tandoori chicken was juicy, smoky and packed with spices. You should definitely eat here

Its a casual place with many options from just appetizers to full meal from
Indian cuisine. Tried a variety of dishes and overall, it was a great experience!

The samosas were crispy and flavorful, and the mango lassi was super refreshing – thick, sweet, and just right. The chole poori had a nice home-style taste, and the paneer pakora was a nice appetizer, crispy on the outside and soft inside.

Chicken 65 had a nice spice kick, and the mustard fish dish was unique – bold flavor, definitely something different. Service was friendly and the decor added a fun vibe. Indoor and outdoor seating adds to the ambience and they are open till very late night. A couple of dishes like vada pav and pav bhaji could’ve been hotter or a bit more balanced in flavor, but still a delicious spread. Would definitely go back to try more!

The Gosht Biryani fell short on flavor with spices that didn’t pack much punch. Generous portions but the bland seasoning combined with mushy rice made it disappointing overall. The meat was tender enough, just needed way more spice to bring it to life. For the price you’d expect bolder flavors that deliver.

Food is good but quantity is very very less for the price charged. Instead of paneer curry they sent dal curry.

If you’re craving authentic Bengali flavors, I can’t recommend Cafe Bollywood enough! From the comforting aroma of Kolkata Style Mutton Biriyani, Koraishutir Kochuri, Rui Macher Kalia to the melt-in-your-mouth Kosha Mangsho, every dish feels like a trip back home. The food is rich, perfectly spiced, and beautifully balanced — just like a true Bengali meal should be.

Highly recommend this place to anyone craving real Bengali food!

This was one of my favorite restaurants last year, but now it seems something has changed and the food tastes terrible! Never had Vada pav that was so much dipped in butter! Dahi ke kabab? They were just oily coins, and the two-bite samosas were the cherry on the top! Chole bature has also lost its taste. And now we are bloated for entire night.
The only constant best thing is their tea!

Typical desi place with one of the most authentic indian food, service and atmosphere! They’ve been in business for over 15yrs (ex Oh India!) and quality remains intact.

Great food, we came here as it was open late till 12 AM, but pleasantly surprised by quality, service, price and courteousness of staff. I guess that’s all matter to be a good restaurant.
