Social Profile:

Our coffee is sourced locally from roasters with over 30 years of experience roasting their own blends. Café Beignet is proud to continue the tradition of serving Chicory Coffee, first introduced by the French to New Orleans when it was still a colony of France. Chicory is a plant that is roasted through a similar process as coffee beans. Coffee and chicory are grounded separately and then combined, resulting in a most unique taste. New Orleanians have developed a love for its bolder flavor and we hope you will too! Since 1990, Café Beignet has four locations in the French Quarter with another on the way. Each of our locations offers something unique to its visitors, including live jazz, cocktails, outdoor seating (with pet friendly area…

A nice place to get out of the hustle & bustle of Bourbon Street. Cute courtyard. Very clean establishment. The beignets did not come close to the delicious beignets at Café Du Monde. The beignets here were doughy & overcooked. We ended up throwing them away. The food we ordered was good (fried catfish, shrimp poboy & turkey sandwich). I thought it was poor taste that we got seated and heard a few songs before Willie decided to take his tip bucket into the audience of about 12 of us. He seemed super distracted and kept stopping his performance to tend to family members in the audience. Our experience is that if you don’t order from the waitress at your seat and order from the counter, she will not come to clear your table.

Cafe Beignet on Bourbon Street was an absolute vibe. We went at night with live music playing and a relaxed, uncrowded atmosphere—it felt special right away. The staff was phenomenal from start to finish. Shout out to the woman who took our order and gave great advice on timing so our beignets would be hot and perfect.
The food was delicious—the étouffée omelet, red beans and rice, and of course the beignets were all excellent. But what truly set this place apart was the service. Everyone was warm, friendly, and welcoming. The gentleman who brought our food had the best energy and made the experience even more memorable. Great food, great vibes, incredible people.

As of writing this, haven’t had Loretta’s but I have had Cafe Du Monde:

This place was fantastic. Their chocolate glazed beignets were divine. Had the perfect chew, a nice outer crust for a good crunch, and just the right amount of powdered sugar.

The atmosphere is wonderful, and from the 2 times we’ve visited, our service was quick and efficient.

These beignets were the best I’ve ever had!! I couldn’t believe I was able to eat my main meal before getting to them, and they were still so hot and fresh. We had the western omelette with potatoes instead of grits and the andouille sausage on the potatoes was great. The conti croissant was also delicious. I cannot wait to come back and visit. Waiting in line was no problem because of the music and good vibes here!

Live Jazz band in the late morning was lovely. Unfortunately, one of our orders was wrong. Still worth going to for the vibe alone but the Decatur st one had better beignets. The drinks were good.

This was my first and last stop in New Orleans, absolutely lovely atmosphere thanks to the live jazz bands that are always warm and welcoming, and lovely beignets (would recommend over Cafe Du Monde for sure). Went back to sit and relax before my flight!

We visited Cafe Beignet on Bourbon Street primarily to see how their beignets stack up against Cafe Du Monde. While they looked very good, the main issue was that they were very doughy and not cooked through; the exterior was soft and lacked crispness. Overall, they were kind of a letdown.

On a positive note, the coffee was good. The vibe inside the café is very cool, featuring live music, and the service was prompt. It’s quite cozy and fun, but this specific experience with the food fell flat.

Café Beignet offers a calmer and slightly quieter vibe compared to Café Du Monde. The service is attentive and fast, and the staff handle orders to-go very well, packaging the beignets so they stay hot, fresh, and un-messed.

The beignets themselves are delicious, though a bit different from Café Du Monde. They’re lighter and fluffier, closer to a traditional donut texture, while still having a little chew. The portion size is generous, and they also offer variations like chocolate beignets, which adds a nice twist.

That said, I personally prefer Café Du Monde’s beignets for their denser, chewier texture and the generous dusting of powdered sugar. Flavor-wise, Café Beignet is just as excellent — it’s really just a matter of texture and personal preference.

Overall, Café Beignet is an excellent alternative to Café Du Monde, with great service, a slightly calmer atmosphere, and tasty beignets. If you like a lighter, fluffier beignet, this is a fantastic choice. For me, Café Du Monde still takes the top spot, but Café Beignet is a very close second.

10/10 on the Osiris Hotness Scale

What a great experience! This spot truly exceeded expectations — the food was fresh, flavorful, and offered a great variety for every taste. ️ From appetizers to the main dishes, everything was well-prepared and beautifully presented.

The atmosphere was lively and fun, especially with the live music that added such great energy to the night. It made the whole dining experience feel special and memorable. The location is also perfect — easy to find, comfortable setting, and a great place to unwind with friends or family.

The service was smooth, the vibe was right, and the entire experience felt like a perfect evening out.

Overall, I’d rate it a solid 10/10 on the Osiris Hotness Scale! Definitely a place I’d recommend to anyone looking for good food, good music, and a good time.
