This restaurant is across from ISU. The venue is not too big, but the atmosphere is good. We ordered a plate of pasta and three burgers. Overall, they were delicious. The pasta tasted lighter, the burgers were less salty, and they had no sauces. The bread is toasted and tastes good.
The taste was not like that of ordinary American restaurants. Today’s server is Molly, and it is amicable. The only downside is that the restaurant smells like oil smoke; maybe we can eat outside next time.

So let’s talk about what makes a place a local gem. An atmosphere that is obviously well thought out and committed to. Staff that are attentive to guests needs as well as sociable. Food and drink that can’t be found elsewhere?

Cafe Beaudelaire has all these in spades. With an atmosphere that keeps me coming back as a regular for food, drink, and company.

Visiting from IL & met family who tells me all the time this is her favorite place. Very quiet little place. Has daily drink specials as well. I got the Greek salad w/ gyro meat. I did expect lettuce with it but it was good none the less. Great selection of draft beers as well.

A great local spot for delicious food. Unique offerings of Brazilian inspired foods, right in Ames! The eclectic interior features walls adorned with paper currencies from around the world, while featuring the colors of the Brazilian flag on the ceiling and around the dining room. Flags from around the world add to the charm, making this a feast for the eyes as well as the belly. Delightful and will definitely be back when visiting our Cyclone!

Cute tiny restaurant with a lot of culture inside!

What we got:
— classic breakfast with sausage, eggs, hash browns (held the cheddar)
— not pictured: steak & eggs! 8/10

Not many tables but the wait wasn’t too long. Service was good.

Many beers on draft and big bar selection. I personally didn’t drink anything.

It was good to try. I don’t know if I would come back.

Downside (may not be restaurants fault: lots of flies)

Weird thought it had posted earlier but doesn’t look like it now. Anyway. Great time. Haven’t been here for about 30 years. Stopped through Ames and was able to go again with the family. The owner still “lurks” there.
Sarah was a great waitress made us feel very welcome.
I got the cubano others got the Border burger and two Brasilian burgers. It was all very yummy! Oh and the Yucca fries! Nice deviation from normal fries.

We stopped in here for a mid- afternoon snack. It was pretty empty but obviously this was not their peak time. We ordered drinks and beef and chicken empanadas. The empanadas were fantastic, highly recommended.

The restaurant walls are covered in currency from many different countries, some dating back at least as far as WWII.

UPDATE! 2nd visit
I was able to make a stop and tried the gyro and a Nerd Long Island! The drink was fruity and fabulous . The gyro was good, but the Cuban was better.

Best kept secret. I’ve lived near Ames most of my life and have never tried Cafe Beaudelaire. Based on a recommendation from a coworker, I decided to try it for lunch. I had the Cuban sandwich and wasn’t disappointed! I look forward to returning and trying something different (and a long Island when I don’t have to return to work).

This place has some of the best fries I’ve had anywhere, and the sandwich too was also made incredibly well. You can tell the chefs put a lot of effort into what they make, and it pays off in the taste.

The atmosphere of the place is also pretty nice, they have a ton of flags strewn across the walls and top of the bar – giving it a nice welcoming feeling.
