Nice spot overall with a comfortable vibe. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, which is a plus, and the coffee was definitely good. They open early at 6am in the morning.

Food-wise, it was a mixed experience. The breakfast croissant wasn’t my favorite — it felt a bit too dry and not as soft or flaky as I expected. The San Juan burrito also wasn’t really my thing; the flavors felt a little off to me. The short ribs were better than the other dishes, though still just okay overall.

Not a bad place to relax and have coffee, but the food was a bit hit or miss for me.

A nice little cafe located at Marriott’s Inn at the Mission. They have some indoor seating and an outdoor patio with a fountain and views of Mission SJC across the street. The atmosphere and service were good but unfortunately the food was not that good. The Avocado Toast had so many things on it from ricotta cheese & chimichurri sauce to a giant spear of cold asparagus that it was overwhelmed and not enhanced. The San Juan burrito was not good either and the Cappuccino was not hot.

I really enjoyed my time here at Café at the Mission. San Juan Capistrano is a beautiful city and I thought I’d take my grandmother out for a treat touring the city and taking her for a small place for brunch. There are a lot of tasty options to choose from at the café. I ended up getting the breakfast croissant, which was an excellent choice. It’s a small café with nice indoor and outdoor seating. Very festive during the time of year I went. As far as service, it’s an order at the counter, and you get served at your table.

Food – 13/20
Service – 5/10
Atmosphere – 6/10

Total – 24/40

I really don’t know where to begin. We ordered the breakfast two eggs, scrambled two sausages, a piece of bacon, fried potatoes, and an English muffin. Absolutely shocked the fried potatoes will not even done and they were freezer burn they tasted terrible. You could actually taste their freezer burnt. They gave me two things of butter froze salad from my English muffin that was not even toasted all the way. I asked him for some soft butter. They said they didn’t have none. They didn’t even offer to make the butter softer. She just looked at me and walked off.. The bacon was very thin and flimsy the sauce taste the freezer burnt. Also, we ate one of the sausages one of the English muffins with no butter no jelly from a café being in the mission the service and the food we got was microwave freezer burnt and we ended up spending $40 there. I could go to Denny’s for half of that and have an excellent breakfast. I would not eat here. This is not some bad review. It’s just advising you not to eat at this place. The service was very rude. The breakfast was completely microwave freezer burnt for 20 bucks. I would stay clear of this place.

Great little spot with a beautiful outdoor seating area. The staff is good with food allergies, when they where not sure on what the gluten free bread was made of (needs to be nut free) they called the chef to doublecheck. I ordered the tuna sandwich on gluten free bread and a lavender latte with oat milk. Both where tasty.

The food and presentation was good. My husband said the burrito was lacking a little flavor. I honestly felt the hollandaise sauce on my Benedict was lacking as well. It wasn’t as thick as a normal hollandaise sauce would be. They messed up our order, but the manager took care of us. I’m sure they working out the kinks. I was pleased to find they have GF options/ bread. We’ll have to give this place another try in the future.

What a great spot. This cafe is across the street from the Mission at San Juan Capistrano. They have a lot of outside comfortable seating. The staff under the direction of the manager Rafael, were all wonderful and very accomadating. The coffee was good and the food and pastries were excellent. I went there a lot during our week long stay in San Juan Capistrano.

For being so close to the mission, the prices were pretty good. I got the tuna sandwich and it tasted good, but nothing spectacular.

I absolutely love coming here for my coffee, and your pastries are always a treat! However, I’ve noticed that the oven has been down for a while, and I’ve been missing those warm pastries, especially with this rainy weather. Any chance you could get it fixed soon? It would make my visits even better!

Thanks!!
