Cafe Americain is known for their soup, its served with lump crab meat and tender broccoli, accompanied by a sweet and savory cream sauce. I have been coming here for years and find the rest of the menu is a mixed bag. The pastas, and boiled shrimp, are quite good but the fried dishes are a bit inconsistent at times. Mostly due to a lack of seasoning or their being undercooked. Service is always excellent and the dessert cooler has good offerings to satisfy your sweet tooth. Definitely try their soup, the rest is a toss up.

You get a good amount of food for the price you pay. Our servers were on top of refills and were nice and friendly! I love the subtle music in the background and love finding places like these. Thanks Katie for making the service great as well.

As a customer that comes here regularly, it extremely upsets me when poor customer service is being displayed. I had a salad and entree at this restaurant. Both the salad and entree contained a piece of hair. The salad was replaced. The entree was only taking off the bill. I was not compensated for it. The owner nor did the kitchen manager compensate me for my meal which I did not complete due to finding another hair follicle in my entree. I was told that I am able to purchase a new entree if I wanted anything else to eat.Everyone please double check your plates when you go to this restaurant. They don’t seem bothered about presenting poor customer service, so be careful

Absolutely delicious, and the sweet potato hush puppies are to die for! On top of this, the waitress was an absolute delight. Highly recommend and will most certainly be back.

OMGoodness! First visit at restaurant and they did not disappoint! Blueberry pancakes were absolutely delicious, and our waitress Candace showed great hospitality! Will be back again!

Went there today for a work event and my group ordered several 30 dollar plates. The poboy had lettuce even though I asked for none had shells in it and was cut in half with each side only about the length of a finger, the crabcakes were the size of silver dollars and when I asked for extra sauce they brought a half filled container and threatened to charge for more, the fish was bland and also small. Service wasnt bad but whoever the “boss” is kept telling the waitress that several sides couldn’t be substituted and the asparagus i received was disgusting and I had barely any. Horrible experience with how many other great food places there are in the area. Will not be coming back.

This is one of the most under rated spots in BR. Definitely in the top 20!! The sweet potato hush puppies don’t miss! I tried the fried egg plants w/ crabmeat and crawfish, it was on point. My wife loved her salmon platter as well!
