Delicious food! Very unique items, a mix of Chinese, Turkish, and Central Asian influence make for a truly memorable experience. I highly recommend the orange tea, so great! My family also really enjoyed several other dishes that I don’t remember the name of but I took a few pictures! The service was extremely friendly, the staff is really earnest in their desire to share their rich cultural heritage. Relaxed atmosphere, we felt very welcome. An important addition to Chicago’s culinary scene. I will be returning with friends for sure!

Cafe Alif is a hole in the wall restaurant that serves amazing authentic central Asian food! To start, the ambiance was nice and welcoming, and the staff were very friendly! The food did not take long to get out and was hot when it arrived, which is always a good sign. All items were amazing: please look at the picture captions for more details on what I ordered.

This is my favourite place in Chicago to eat lagman, best lagman in Chicago so far. Boso lagman (fried) and guro lagman are my favourites. Always fresh and delicious. Service is amazing, very welcoming and accommodating.

Absolutely delicious Uyghur food, which included incredible meat pie (goosh naan – spelled differently in the menu), hand-pulled noodles, dumplings, and fruit tea. Located in the middle bustling areas on Devon, it is a wonderful place for dinner. Highly recommended.

The boso lagman and manti were good but nothing notable.
Bread was unfortunately less than impressive. I wish it was served warm and crispy on the outside!

Just a wonderful dinning experience. I’ve been a fan of Uyghur cuisine for a long time and had the privilege of enjoying it in several countries, but this is one of the best places I’ve had the cuisine. I would say this place is a must visit for anyone that finds themselves in the Rogers Park/West Ridge area, as well as for anyone who hasn’t been introduced to Uyghur food yet. They also had a nice selection of foods from Central Asian and Eastern Europe such as Varenyky (Ukrainian Dumplings), that said the Laghman is definitely the way to go.

We were so hungry and excited to eat central Asian cuisine that I even forgot to take pictures beforehand. So sorry for my sloppy pics.
Unfortunately some of the menu items weren’t available, but gladly we still enjoyed our time in there.
We had manty, shorpo, kotlets, samsa, kompot, and tea.
Love how they serve manty with generous amount of sour cream and dill.
Shorpo was so good especially meat with the bones part.
Kotlets were not as good as I would have expected to be honest but the rice with noodles is something different and unique.
Tea is amazingly delicious, and kompot was so good and brings back childhood memories.
Hopefully next time we get to have blinchiki with farmers cheese, and medovik honey cake ! We love desserts so can’t wait to try them out again
