Our recent visit totacoma included a dining experience at Cactus, a swcond location to the one in Seattle,a Latin fusion establishment. While the restaurant presents a Mexican aesthetic, its culinary offerings lean towards a Latin fusion cFor those seeking traditional Mexican cuisine, this may not be the ideal choice. However, for individuals in search of a flavorful dining experience with a pleasant atmosphere and attentive service, Cactus is highly recommended. During our visit, I selected the Seattle chimichanga with smoked brisket, which offered a complex and enjoyable flavor profile. My son opted for the flautas, which he also found to be excellent. For dessert, we shared the flan and bananas dulces. Although I was unable to partake in the sweet bananas due to a cinnamon allergy, my son reported they were exceptional. It is worth noting that Kurt Cobain reportedly had his final meal at this establishment, including the sweet bananas for dessert.
At the Tacoma location, we had the flautas again. I had the Burrita Lenera with flank steak; it was spicy enough to give it a great flavor. I will recommend it with the smoked brisket, and my son had the shrimp and grits. He said that it is his new favorite dish.
For an appetizer, we got the Guac sampler, and it didn’t disappoint, but the chips and salsa are great too.
The flan was enjoyable, though I personally prefer my own recipe; I still highly recommend it. We had this dessert in both locations; it’s that good.
The cost, including beverages, was approximately $30+ per person, which is considered reasonable.
In summary, while the restaurant’s Mexican-inspired dishes receive a rating of 5 out of 10, its Latin fusion offerings are rated a 9 out of 10, making it a worthwhile dining destination.
And, like I like to say, bring some to the experience because everything is better when you share it.!

Megan R was so sweet and attentive. Her recommendations were tempting, but the menu had a lot more selections that we really couldnt decide what to choose because it all looked good. The service was fast and the food presentation was phenomenal. We ordered litre of mimosas that was also reasonably priced. We were also surprised to receive a complementary flan from the manager. Our first time here did not disappoint. Thank you Megan R and staff!

One of the best Mexican restaurants in the area! Every food items and drinks I’ve had here have been phenomenal! Service is always attentive.
Plenty of gluten-free and vegetarian options. They also have other locations throughout the Greater Seattle area. Highly recommended!

Staff was so attentive and super friendly. I had the fish tacos and my husband had the carne asada, both were flavorful and cooked to perfection. I gotta admit I was licking my fingers after every bite of the fish tacos. The mezcal old fashioned was by far the highlight our lunch! We had to have more than one! We will definitely be back again. 🙂

Had a really nice lunch on Sunday. I ordered a seasonal item (chorizo tetelas) and it was delicious. I’d definitely order it again if it’s still on the menu. I love the hibiscus mocktail. Chips were nice and warm, salsa had just the right amount of heat. Waitstaff was friendly and prompt!

I just ordered takeout of a smoked chicken quesadilla and this is how it arrived at my door. Absolutely unacceptable. I’ve had good experiences in the restaurant but will never order takeout again. Buyer beware

We love this place, even coming here for special occasions. Flavors are good. This time we ordered takeout. The clam chowder was great as was my husbands shrimp and grits dinner. My steak salad though could have been better. The steak was hard to chew and there wasn’t nearly enough dressing. I asked for it on the side and it was only enough to barely taste it. When you’re paying as much for a salad, why skimp on the dressing?

We live in Olympia but came to Tacoma for the farmers market. We needed lunch and walked right in to grab a drink and some food. Right off the bat I was impressed. The hostess was so sweet and I loved the cute interior and patio. Our server was very efficient and friendly. The stuffed squash blossoms were FANTASTIC and our entrees were incredible. The menu is unique and we wanted to try so many things. First time having a stacked enchilada and would definitely get it again. The bathrooms were clean, staff was quick and kind and the manager even brought over a complimentary flan. We worked in restaurants for years so it takes a lot to impress us and we were so happy we stumbled in here for a random lunch. We can’t wait to come back! 10/10
