What happened to this place . After 20 years and going often . This has changed so dramatically. The enchilada’s dry. Sauce has no flavor and is no longer red in color (brown) Arroz Con Polla is tomato based . And no flavor. Burrito is all rice where is the refried beans ? . I pulled the entire burrito apart.
Not sure what’s going on with food but it definitely not consistent anymore ..(we gave it a 3rd try and it not getting better it’s getting worse )

Have been going here since they opened and has always been a consistent, satisfying experience. Without going into specifics it’s barely mediocre now. The question is, what happened? New ownership, too much expansion, or just too much success? We don’t frequent nearly as much as we once did; tonight’s meal brought me to writing this review, a complete disappointment!

I’ve been going here for 20+ years, born and raised in Sea Cliff. This place was a hidden gem with incredibly good food quality, but it unfortunately has gone down hill a bit in recent years. The food is still great, but it used to have next level flavor and taste before expansion.

Been coming here since they first opened and it’s always been one of my favorite go-to places. Tonight I called up and ordered the arroz con pollo, which is one of my favorites there. I went to pick it up the computer screen had it listed as Tex-Mex fried rice with chicken. I said “that’s not what I ordered,” and was told that’s what they have now. Got home and it was really greasy, and did not taste the same. Arroz con pollo is not fried. Very disappointing and wish they told me when I ordered. I would have gotten something that wasn’t fried.

I’ve been to Cactus Cafe in Medford and Huntington several times and always order the same dishes. Vegetable burrito and grilled chicken burrito both in a bowl style. It’s consistently been amazing: fresh vegetables, well-balanced portions, and good quality chicken. That’s why this experience stood out in a disappointing way.

At the Glen Cove location, the dishes were almost entirely rice, with very few vegetables and much less balance overall. It felt like a completely different meal than what I’m used to from this restaurant. The quality and portion mix were noticeably off compared to the other locations.

I’m hoping this was just an off day, because I’ve had great experiences elsewhere and expect the same level of consistency across locations. But I will be hard pressed to go back to the Glen Cove location.

Really gone down hill over the years. Always put beans when I ask for none, and it ends up being half beans, probably because it’s cheaper. Long hold times on the phone and then they don’t even get the order right. Small chips and queso is way too small for the price. Not nearly as good a place as it used to be.

I have to join those that have been eating here a long time in saying the quality has taken a dive the past 6 months. We have been going for the past 10 years and are on the verge of not going back. Ordering is treated as, whatever, and even simple crispy chicken tacos are lame. Fragments of meat (lots of breading) and a pile of lettuce to fill it up.

I recommended this location for lunch delivery at my office (20+) a while back and we have ordered about every other week. Everyone has noticed the change.

I haven’t seen the same faces (long time staff) lately and wonder if it’s going to get better.

Place used to be great but honestly feels like the quality has gone downhill as of late. The protein portions are pretty weak and food doesn’t really taste that great for the price. Hope they can go back to their old quality!

Best bean burritos here! That orange hot sauce is addictive. Friendly service. Sad to see that that their hibiscus drink is made in a factory and bottled now and not on site though. Doesn’t taste the same. Overall great place for great food.

Stopped by evening time Dec 5th for takeout. The large nachos had no beans. They had beans on them before. What happened? The chicken wings were burnt and dry. What a waste of money. I won’t come back.
