The ambiance at Butter’s was relaxing, welcoming and nostalgic, wonderful! The service was accomodating, nice and courteous. The food was just ok. We had the turkey wings, mac/cheese, collard greens and chicken wings. The rich flavors one anticipates in soul food was missing. Many of the items on the menu weren’t available. However, it was explained that they’d been closed for 3-days.

My husband and I purchased 2 platters today 1 beef 1 pork. I had the pork ribs with sauce on the side and the best thing about Butters is the atmosphere and the customer service. My ribs have been cooked and reheated, they have no flavor at all then they are like the box ribs from cousins 75% bone and 25% meat. Wont be back!! Oh the sides where great!!

The inside was antique nostalgia, I liked. The lima beans w/rice were good. The cat fish batter could have been better. It just was too loose for me. The yams were a tad too sweet but good depending on your tolerance level. The lemon pound cake was good. The sweet tea, I just had to cut with water. The one thing that I hated were the packaging of my greens not being fully enclosed inside the container.

If you’re gonna get fried food, it might as well be soul food. Nice surprise found on W Girard St. the fish was super fresh and the serving size as you can see if hefty. The corn bread has a great semi sweet taste and the catfish was delicious. If you’re in the neighborhood, definitely stop by.
