Local, family-owned chain serving American fare from omelets to steak in a homey setting.

I really enjoy coming here when no one can agree on what they want to eat. The Buttercup has a huge menu and I have had a lot of variety from breakfast to appetizers and wine and a big hearty dinner. The seasonal specials are always great! We tried the beet salad and honey Dijon salmon dinner from the special menu and both were delicious!

I can’t believe that this place still exists! We used to go here often, something like 25 years ago or more. And it is just the same. Good food, great service, reasonable prices, very clean and comfortable. Lots of comfort food. The sandwiches are big and full of great ingredients, and they came out fast. My wife had a BLT&G, I had an avocado melt. Lots of fries, lots of everything. I just wish we lived close enough to stop by more often

Absolutely delicious. We got a the chicken and waffles combo with a churro waffle and the breakfast burrito. Everything was cooked very well, delicious, server was friendly and the place is so pretty and has a nice vibe. Definitely will be returning!

Service was very friendly and the food was great. The shrimp and grits was a hit. I do think the bowl needed more grits. The biscuits were great.

It’s a great local place for typical diner fare. We’ve been here before several times, but I never really gave them a proper review. The staff is both welcoming and prompt in their service, which is always a plus in any dining establishment. I recommend their chicken fried steak, which is my standard breakfast in any diner. My wife especially loves their chicken sausage omelet with spinach, mushrooms, and avocado. Food service is quick and on point, plus they’re always efficient in refills for your coffee. Try them out, and they won’t disappoint, highly recommended

A really great diner! Fabulous breakfasts, with eggs, biscuits, toast and pancakes that hit it out of the park. Great pies at $6.99 too! Staff is diner perfect and customers are locals who keep everything honest. Just give it a try and come back!

I first went here on October 20, 2025, for a delicious brunch. Why? I had a great Monday morning, and I deserved a nice meal. Though there were so many good options, I couldn’t help myself but try their corned hash and eggs, served with a big biscuit and breakfast potatoes. I also ordered the pecan pie, which is a seasonal exclusive.
Upon getting my order, I successfully wiped the entree clean of food, and it was amazingly delicious that I saved the pie for later. On the other hand, the service is good due to the friendliness and multitasking within the vicinity. As for the atmosphere, it feels rather calming and not too crowded, but I sure want to come back here. On a Friday afternoon or weekend? Definitely.

Breakfast on Dec 24, so my wife and I hit this restaurant for brunch while in Vallejo for my birthday. It was packed, but we were seated within 5 minutes and presented with coffee while we perused the menu. I was excited about cheese grits, and my Wife wanted the cinnamon biscuit with cream cheese frosting. We then ordered the Tex-Mex scramble and the pork chop breakfast. Seriously, MORE food than we thought and was better than expected… except the cold, lumpy cheese grits. Photos can’t do the description properly, but 2 bites was all I could suffer. The scramble had to be 5-6 eggs with the appropriate mix-ins and potatoes, piled with cheese, cilantro, salsa, and black beans. Her 2 pork chops were enormous, and she could only eat a partial one, but she did eat her entire biscuit! The service was prompt until our food arrived, then almost non-existent as we had only the original of coffee and ZERO water to suffice until the bill was delivered. Yes, they were swamped with customers, but I feel they’re used to it, so why stop?! Will I return? Maybe, but they have to fix the grits situation and offer better service once the food has been delivered.

Everyone is very friendly. Everything is always clean. Food comes out hot and in a reasonable amount of time, even when they are very busy. I might have had maybe two or three misses out of the ~100 times I’ve been to this location. Bonus points for the restroom always being clean, okay smellimg (weak stomach girlie here) and well stocked!

It’s nice to know we have a place like this in our town for breakfast & lunch. I customized my breakfast order and I got chorizo scrambled w/ hash browns and a cinnascuit. It was delicious, but my cinnascuit was a bit hard. My husband got country fried steak as usual and had no complaints. Every time we eat here we never come across bad service and the servers are so friendly and awesome!
