My very first time in this place,

My husband and I ordered the 3 meat plate,

The beef ribs were ok, nothing outstanding

Brisket was ok, barely eat it

The pork ribs tasted and smelled fishy, I could even smelled them after coming back from the restroom, I don’t know how you can make that possible but this was the less flavourful bbq I’ve ever had.

Sides were mid, barely touch them.

And 2 coke bottles were room temperature.

I don’t think we are coming back to this place, but we didn’t had any lucky sorry.

Busters was always the best BBQ tri tip in Sonoma and Napa County. They have over the years served less and less meat on their sandwiches. This will be my last visit for a while.

I understand this is a business, so raise your prices, dont cut my portion!

(And the hot isn’t HOT anymore)

My friend recommended this place and to order the tri tip sandwich. It was delish and didnt get the hot sauce as I heard its too hot its a cozy casual and friendly place. Enjoy.

This place used to be awesome. Each sandwich would come loaded with meat on a heavenly garlic bread. These days you are lucky to get enough meat to cover even half the sandwich. Good thing the bread is still good because my last four bites were all bread and no meat. Also, the spicy bbq is no joke. It really is spicy so order accordingly. I typically do a half and half to mellow out the spiciness, and I love spicy.

We enjoyed the homemade bbq sauces. We are a family who loves heat so the spicy bbq sauce was right on point. The brisket was my favorite

Tri-tip was extremely dry and just nothing but fat. The canned beans in a small container were just that. Canned beans. The packaged overly sweetened slaw could give someone diabetes even on the best day. There was NOTHING garlicky about their garlic bread. A soggy burned back piece plopped down on very dry meat and a spoonful of sauce. Husband ordered a pulled pork sandwich and even that was hard to swallow. The bread was so soggy it fell apart while eating it. Shame on me for not looking at reviews prior to ordering! NOT WORTH THE MONEY PAID!

Left very disappointed. Smelled amazing so we had to stop. Brought home brisket and St. Louis ribs with garlic bread. Brisket was juicy but lacked any flavor. Ribs were tough also had little to no flavor. I will say, the mild sauce was delicious and found it made not meats taste far better. The garlic bread, on th recommendation of the staff, was noting more than French bread with butter and garlic salt.

Needless to say, we won’t go out of our way to eat here again. I would expect far more for the price.

This is one of my favorite places to come eat barbecue when I’m in Calistoga. It is definitely a landmark here and has been open for 25 years. Buster is really personal and a pleasure to talk to as well as the staff. I have ordered the beef ribs and the pork ribs and they were a hit out of the park. Do yourself a favor and don’t miss this place.

I had lunch here today and had the three meat with two sides tasting plate. The price was $51 and I also ordered a 6$ drink. I went to the first window and made my order, the person who took the order quickly stacked the items on my plate and told me to step to the next window to pay. That woman said to tap to pay and handed me a drink. When I tapped it said “payment complete $72” and some change.
I asked how that added up and she said that was the automatic 20% tip. I said I never said anything about a tip. I told her I did not authorise a tip so she refunded it in cash. California now has a minimum $20 living wage and I don’t mind paying a tip when service is part of the experience but 20% for handing my order through a window is outright price gouging and opertunistic behaviour when it is automatic. Unbelievably assumptive behaviour. The Brisket was hot cooked like a steak on the grill, grey, dry, and tasteless. The pork tenderloin was the same. The slightly saving grace was the pulled pork which was moist and nice. The BBQ sauce was tasty and much needed to help me swallow the dry meats. Pasta salad and cole slaw were very average and the garlic bread was very skimpy on both butter and taste. I have worked in the restaurant industry for years and don’t mind paying a high price for a steller food experience but this was not it. 1/3 the price at in and out burger is a monumentally better experience. My advice is avoid the hype this place was good 10 years ago but now just routinely rapes the wide eyed bay area tourists who are willing to pay any amount for an experience that should come with a side order of Vaseline…
