Social Profile:

The Bush Farmhouse plays hopscotch with South African flavors, cuisine and drink. So what exactly is that? Well, like America, South Africa is a nation of immigrants. Europeans borrowed from, blended with local African cuisines, and vice versa. It’s glorious, flavorful cooking – made for lively tables, sharing and good cheer.

Delightful gritty. Has a bit of a jungle beach shack dropped off in the mountains vibe. Do get me wrong here, it is a wonderful experience. There is refinement here. The food is amazing and they carry authentic South African food. Indoor seating is limited, but the out door seating is where it is at. They have chickens and pigs for the little ones to feed (they are pinned). They have an onsite garden and green house. Corn hole boards. Looks like they offer live music was well. Wether you are looking for food, or a cool place to grab some drinks, this is the place for that. I was able to get dinner and came back for breakfast.

Husband and I went here for breakfast/lunch as a last minute choice, but it was a great choice! We had the boerewors roll and the bush breakfast and both were delicious! The smashed potatoes are especially good. We also had some very good (and strong) cocktails and a decadent Malva pudding. The service was great and quick and the overall vibe of the restaurant was charming and eclectic! We sat inside near the front and it was comfortable and cute. Definitely recommend!

Had the absolute best experience at Bush Farmhouse. Service was impeccable. Food was delicious & it was so cozy & warm with the fireplace going and the snow outside. The pinotage wine was to die for. Smoothest red I’ve ever tasted! Highly recommend! I also had the soup of the day which was ox tail, the carrots for an appetizer & the spinach bush pie. Yum!

This little gym of a restaurant eclipses the taste buds in a unique kind of way in a very cool and different environment. Sounds of jazz music mixed with a ribeye steak. It’s hard to beat. I’d recommend you check the spot out if you’re looking for a local food farm to table style restaurant with a different kind of twist the burger was awesome. The chicken wings were great and the steak was the absolute best.

Dining here felt like stepping into another part of the world. This South African restaurant was such a fun and immersive experience. The food was unbelievable, full of bold flavors and clearly made with care. The space itself is lively and filled with travel memorabilia. It made the whole experience feel adventurous and inspiring. A beautiful way to experience another culture and a meal that genuinely made me want to travel more.

Dining at The Bush Farmhouse in Black Mountain was such a wonderful experience! We ordered the sausage rolls for an appetizer—so good! My husband ordered the steak with asparagus and smashed potatoes, and I had the Pap & Boerewors, along with a cup of Rooibos tea. Everything was delicious, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. For dessert, we shared the Malta Pudding and it was absolutely incredible—a sweet ending we’ll be dreaming about for a while!

Beyond the amazing, authentic South African food, what really sets this place apart is the atmosphere. It feels like you’re stepping into a family member’s home—cozy kitchen tables and chairs, spaces to gather with friends, and the kind of warm welcome that makes you want to stay a while. They even have a pen with chickens and pigs outside, which adds to the charm.

This is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience. Highly recommend!

A group of us went there for drinks to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday and ended up staying for dinner. The entire staff was extremely friendly and accommodating with our party’s transition from drinks to dining. Brooke was our server and she was super attentive, informative, and kind- even while splitting the check for a large party. The food was absolutely fantastic and unique. We will definitely be returning.
