I’m a huge fan of this spot, with one near my office and another close to my place — this review is for my home location. I normally go straight for their tacos, since they’re so good I always want more than one. My waist, however, has other opinions. This time I went with the Aloha rice meal, and as soon as I got home, I set aside half for a second round later.
Each visit leaves me amazed at how warm, patient, and supportive the staff is. They always greet you with a smile and handle every order with care. I usually take my meal home, yet I constantly notice many folks dining inside, enjoying the relaxed setting.
I’m truly in love with this place and could happily eat here daily if I had the chance.

I went there yesterday seeing that they were offering $5 off here entire order. Unfortunate.nLy my wife chose to order online. When I noticed the $5 was not discounted, i called to speak with management. I was quite rudely informed that it was for in-house purchases only. I don’t see why this matters. As it is more convenient for everyone and I left a generous tip (for take out).

Amazing food, we come here a lot. 5 stars specifically for this location, the staff is always so great and happy to help. Not saying the other locations are bad, just this one stands out a bit.

We love the food at burrito shack! We have noticed a pattern with the Surf City location not giving as much food when you order a bowl with pick up orders. You get about half the amount as you would if you order the bowl in store. Otherwise, great food and great service!

***EDIT*** I have changed this 3 star review down to 1 star following the response (lies) that the owner made under my review! To the owner… I have no clue who you’re talking about but the guy you describe isn’t me, buddy. First and most importantly, my legal first name is not even Matthew, so you have no clue who I am! I have NO history of being a problem at any Surf City business. In fact, I know most owners of the businesses I frequent by first name and get along with everyone. In regards to whoever you’re referring to… I myself am a former DD driver… I can assure you, drivers are not “ignoring” pick up times… DoorDash doesn’t send a person a pick up offer at any time other than when the order is supposed to be ready — give or take a minute or two. If you find that drivers are arriving early, YOU as the owner have to contact DD corporate to fix estimated p/u times so that said driver(s) aren’t prematurely dispatched to you. In my example, the order was supposed to be ready long before I got it… I saw the ticket with my order and the time it should have been ready was way before the driver left your establishment with my order! Instead of treating this customer (me) like any other customer in line, they watched nearly 20 people get served first. After your ridiculous made up response below, I’ll not be returning to this location as a customer. Perhaps think wisely before replying to reviews, to prevent future embarrassments. lol.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: The food is good, never had a bad tasting meal at any Burrito Shak. My issue is to-go ordering… specifically at this location. I have both picked up myself in person and also used DoorDash to deliver for me. Each time, the wait for my simple (small) order is insane. The three different DD delivery people I’ve had pick up my food have all told me the same story… when they got to the restaurant, they watched countless people in line get served their food while my order wasn’t started until they cleared the line of walk-ins. My last order was 25 minutes past due from when it was supposed to be delivered and the driver told me there was at least 18 people she counted get in line and be served their food before my order was made. Why is this?

We stumble upon Burrito Shak during our trek to Surf City. The kiddos ordered quesadilla and burrito from the kids menu. The adults had the shaka and loaded nachos. Everything came out fresh and tasty. Highly recommended!

I love this place!!! Great food and family-friendly options for everyone. The workers are always smiling with great attitudes and super helpful with all the random patron requests (including my own;) Elizabeth and Joey were beyond helpful and extremely accommodating. To our local Burrito Shak Family~ Thank you for always going above and beyond in Surf City!!!
