Second experience here and was hoping it was better this time. Last time I had the oxtails and they were way too salty. Same applied to the greens. This time it was the chicken. It only takes a moment to take the hair off the wings before.

Owner has always been nice. Greets everyone coming through the door. Repeats your order, reviews it before you walk out. Just need some tweaks to the food.

Since the owner likes to call the reviews fake. Attaching my pending charge for the chicken yesterday.

Be professional king!

**editing cause the owner is outta pocket to everyone who reports a bad experience. A little class goes a long way.

Adding the requested full chicken plate per the owners updated response. It was a 3 piece that was ordered and as you can see there was the same issue on the other two pieces. I did eat a bit of the fries. Those were tasty.

As stated, I’ve been to this establishment in Apr 2025 where I ordered the oxtails that were salty. I ordered chicken and pork chops (all combo plates) on October 30 as shown in my bankcard snapshot and this was truly my experience. Mr. Burnett can continue on with his lies and speaking wrecklessl to people he does not know and continue to modify them as needed but this is still my review and I stand true to it. I wish you all the best.

I ate here for lunch 4 days strait and one night. We were doing some work in the same strip center. This is some of the best home cooked meals I’ve had in a long time. It’s getting harder to find places like this. The owner was really nice, explained everything on how they do it. I personally saw them bringing everything in fresh every morning. Nothing is sitting waiting on you. It is made when you order, and you can definitely taste it. Lots of flavor in everything. I will definitely be back when in the area.

Best food around the city. They are killing “whip my soul”. Best soul food in the city you need to be here. Guarantee to have you smiling for ear to ear. Oxtails/catfish and macaroni is the best in Texas

I was really disappointed with my experience here. I ordered the wings with yams, mac & cheese, and a side of cabbage. I specifically asked the owner to fry my wings hard, but that didn’t happen. The wings were undercooked, tough, and I couldn’t even break them apart to eat them.

The owner was not very friendly from the start, which made the experience even less welcoming. When my food arrived, the sides were just as disappointing. The mac & cheese, cabbage, and yams were all served in separate containers, and everything was watery. The yams, in particular, tasted more like Jell-O than real candied yams.

For a place advertised as a soul food spot, this was far from it. I spent $33 and honestly felt like it was money wasted. I don’t understand the good reviews, but based on my experience, this is definitely not authentic soul food. I would not recommend it.

This small business is absolutely amazing. Not only is the food fresh, flavorful, and made with so much care, but their mission to give back to the community is truly inspiring. Every meal is delicious and high quality, and you can tell they put love into what they serve.

What makes them stand out even more is their dedication to feeding and supporting homeless women, children, and survivors in our local area. They aren’t just serving great food — they’re serving hope. Supporting this business means supporting a cause that truly changes lives.

Proud to support a business that feeds both the community and those in need!

The fried pork chop was too salty. The candy yams aren’t fresh, they’re small like the ones from the can. You can taste that the Mac n cheese isn’t fresh, and they microwaved it to warm it up. The green are the ones that comes from the can. The food is over priced. $30 for a pork chop meal

One dry tender. No price on the menu. This meal was $17. Stopped at the gas station next door after to get a better meal. I see why there’s a giant sign that says no refunds.
