This place has been around forever. I havent returned since I moved out of town but, stopped in today. They are still serving up some of the best Portuguese BBQ in all of NJ. You cant go wrong with the combination platter which brings chicken and ribs (beef or pork) with a side of rice and fries. Today I went with the half chicken and vegetables platter. The veggies are carrots, potatos, and steamed cabbage. It was delicious. The chicken is as good as I remember. Its a very small place with maybe 4 tables but they do take credit cards. For the quality and price you cant beat this place.

Stopped coming to this location for years and last night I reminded myself why! Traveled about 20 minutes to pick up food that I was told was going to be ready in 10 minutes, ended up waiting about 20 minutes for. Once I arrived home I noticed that my fries were completely soggy and uncooked! When I called to complain she said it was because they were busy. I responded “so because you’re busy you don’t cook your food thoroughly?” I placed the fries in the oven to cook them myself! What a waste of money!
I stopped going to the one on Stuyvesant Avenue because my shrimp taste it like there was dirt or sand inside and they told me I had to pay extra if I wanted my shrimp cleaned! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?

Nice service when I called in my order. Easy pick up. Food was flavorful! The beef ribs were a bit tough but still had nice flavor. The chicken was my favorite! The chicken sandwich and fries were good as well 🙂

I cannot believe how poor the food is now. This used to be a go to spot. Now EVERYTHING LACKS FLAVOR! EVERYTHING – chicken, pork ribs, rice, garlic shrimp and beans! Don’t waste your money!!!

Everything was delicious. Food was fresh, warm, hearty, savory and satisfying. Great service! Comfortable atmosphere. A great option for family meals, when unable or unwilling to cook at home. Good sized portions. I had the Chicken in Garlic Sauce with rice and beans. My friend has the BBQ Ribs and Chicken with Rice, Cabbage and Boiled Potatoes. This spot has been added to my weekly meal rotation.

I really wanted to like this place and was super-excited to try the food here based on the reviews and based on a recommendation. However, my food experience was disappointing.
I will preface this review by saying I did enter the restaurant right at opening at 11:00 a.m. so that may have contributed to my experience.
Item ordered: 1/2 bbq chicken and 1/2 ribs combos with black beans, came with rice.
First the good: 1) friendly staff, 2) atmosphere was okay, 3) they do give you a lot of rice, 4) they do have other choices for sides, and 5) seasoning on the 1/2 chicken and 1/2 ribs was good.
Now the areas for improvement: 1) size of the chicken was small, looked more like a Cornish hen, 2) the meat in the two pork ribs was almost non-existent, 3) the black beans had no flavor and tasted like they were simply warmed up, 4) no meat only menu options, at least I didn’t see any, and 5) the rice was just meh as it did not have any flavor really and had a few peas, very few, but this is a bbq place and not a “sides” place. A meat only menu option like other bbq places would be a nice option.
In my opinion, based I the areas for improvement, the food was not worth the price and I would not return based upon this one experience. Again, this may have been due to the time I came to eat, I hope so as I really like to positively support small and locally owned businesses.
I will say that they were busy as heck with to-go orders and the phone was constantly ringing for new orders.

We stopped by here for a quick bite to eat and everything came out perfectly — chicken, ribs, rice, beans, and veggies (for cheap too — $16 combo platter. If you want to sit inside to eat keep in mind they are actively running the BBQ right behind the counter so it’s smokey inside. Staff are friendly, will definitely come back for more.

Awesome food, polite service, great price. I don’t know what they do to the beans, but they are highly recommended. Actually, I’ve had most things on the menu, and everything is freshly cooked and tasty.

This is th absolute Worst place , this is the 3rd time my order was short but this time it was the worst. We ordered 2 half combos with rice , beef ribs , and chicken with vegetables on one and salad in the other . And got 8 small pieces of chicken and the salad with vegetables. For $30. When I called to tell me about a mistake they said no no race was asked for and then that they can give me the ribs If I go back to get them and then they have to charge me for the rice. They absolutely never get it right and when you call to tell them it’s wrong it’s our fault. I’m never ordering From there again besides the food isn’t that good anymore anyway used to be a lot better. See photo, this is what I got for $30
