Decided to eat at the burgundy restaurant today. With my daughter and let me start off by saying 10 out of 10 Tony is definitely top-notch. He is a friendly server and a great cook. Definitely. Recommend the lemon chicken rice soup 10 out of 10 my club sandwich was also one of the best sandwiches I’ve eaten in a very long time. Thank you for making our dinner a great night for us. Definitely will be back. This soup is definitely worth a trying. This restaurant is a typical American hole in the wall restaurant. It is phenomenal

I am from Columbus, GA. My service animal and I are visiting a friend in Chi-Town! I had my mind set on finding a place that served grits but am so glad I relented to trying The Burgundy Restaurant. The establishment had such a homey feel. The patrons were super friendly! Louis, a server, cashier, a 1 Person Show Stopper was very attentive to us. She is an awesome server! I ordered the country ham skillet with added spinach. I said that I would only eat half of my order so that I could try the other half later @ home with the mozzarella cheese. I didn’t make it out with a to go box. This place is certainly a hidden gem!!!!! When I visit again this will be my go to breakfast!!!

Great pancakes and waffles, good good all around, but the prices have been raised drastically in the past few years (over and above what America’s admittedly wild inflation would require). Looking at the menu pictures posted to the Google listing from 3 years ago, prices are more than 50% higher! I’ve posted updated (August 2025) menu photos.

Place is a little outdated. Food is good. Hashbrowns are not shredded. They are more of a potato mashed but still good. My preference is shredded. I will say the do need new fountains for their sodas. I asked for a coke. Really tasted horrible. Waitress gave me lemon lime soda had a horrible taste. I will recommend to the owner to actually get a new fountain system. I can tell probably a super old system and it taste horrible. Because of that I had to get a super small cup of freshly squeezed orange juice I think was about $4.50 and the cup was super small with mostly pulp on top.

I will say the cook got my order on point. I love my bacon really well done so it was perfect. The eggs were over easy and they were perfect. The French toast was delicious. My bill way a little pricy but I guess everything is pricy now at days. Waitress was nice and I know she might have been slightly bothered when I told her about the coke. Probably thought I was crazy but it was nasty. I can taste it was flat nit just that… the lines tastes very old. They probably had the same system 20 to 30 years.

Entered the restaurant a little after 4:30pm and was greeted by a waiter/host. Few people were there and the atmosphere was relaxing. Placed the roast turkey and dressing order. Shortly people started to arrive. Within minutes the order was ready.
Pleasantly impressed to have a good night and to enjoy the meal!

Burgundy House is a breakfast/lunch style restaurant very similar to Golden Nugget Pancake House. We were in search for a brunch/lunch place but all the places closed at 3 and we were cutting real close to closing time. We decided on this place.

As soon as you enter, it’s like you’re walking into a restaurant in the 60’s. All the decor and seating and even register are so “vintage” you can almost smell how old this place is! (To be honest, I don’t know if this is a compliment or not). The bathroom needs a MAJOR upgrade or maybe a very thorough cleanse! While in there I counted at least 10 flies just flying around what looked like grease stains all over the tiny 2 stall bathroom walls. The seats were so sticky, my 4 year old kept sticking to the booth.

Food: the biscuits and gravy were decent but did taste a little watery for my liking. The country fried steak was good. Breading was consistent and flavorful. My girls got pancakes and waffles. They really enjoyed that. I also got a side of ham off the bone and it was a little salty. We did really enjoy the hot vanilla lattes. My husband got an order of pancakes, and he was disappointed in the texture and flavor of them. He said they tasted like plastic, almost as if they came prepackaged.

To summarize, we won’t be back. I do have to give a huge thanks to the cook that was there because I wanted some items on the menu a certain way and though the waitress was refusing to do it (which I was okay with) he offered to make it how I was asking.

Visited Chicago and had to stop at my childhood diner. Ate here almost every week as a kid. Walked in and gave off the same vibe.. a lot of the decor is still the same and it’s really cool. The food was great and came out fast.

I work right down the street from this place and I love going there to meet clients and vendors. The waitresses have been there for years and the service is quick. They have a ton of pictures of families that eat there and the staff is very friendly. I go for breakfast and usually have the bacon & eggs which are great. Only downfall I would say is the parking. You have to park on the street and it’s paid parking.
