I can honestly say I have just eaten the best burger I’ve ever had.
I decided to try BOTC after a recommendation from my neighbor and it definitely didn’t disappoint. The beef in the burger is locally sourced and is top quality.
The prices are very reasonable considering the high quality of the burger. I ordered for a family of four and the price was similar to when we go to one of the big burger chains, but ten times better!
On top of all that, the gourmet chips are also amazing and the staff are very warm and welcoming.
My kids are already asking when we can go again. They won’t have to wait long!

We stopped in on our way home as we were in search of a late quick lunch on a Sunday after an event with one of our teens. We’d been curious about this new spot opening and decided to stop in when we drove past.
We were greeted by such a lovely team. They were so happy to accommodate us even though it turned out they were initially due to close for the day.
We had a mix of different options as have both meat eaters and vegetarians in our family. The skin on fries of all varieties (usual gourmet fries, cheesy fries and vegan & gluten friendly fries) were so delicious and the seasoning moreish! They’re cut creatively, are both crispy and fluffy and not greasy at all. Burgers and sauces were really tasty too.
Kids had a slice of Oreo cake (plant based and gluten free) and a brownie cookie and there were thumbs up all around.
The portions were huge and the prices were so reasonable. We’ll certainly be popping in again and highly recommend this lovely new Thatcham spot.

Hi, just ordered on uber eats (athenian) for a quick, easy dinner and however it came not only late but also cold. The food was nice but wouldn’t have it again as it took way too long, it kept moving back and back from 6:00 to eventually getting it at 7:00. Very dissapointed

Extremely small portion size for the chips, small burgers, very expensive. I ordered 3 goujons and chips and they came all together in a burger box so just a tiny square of chips. This was not even the smallest either and was not a kids meal? This was for my 12 Yr old child and we had to go somewhere else after due to the size. My burger was very small. Extra 2.50 for an extra patty put the burger price to almost £12 and it was not much bigger than a double cheeseburger from McDonald’s. Drove home which only took couple mins and the burger was cold. There didn’t seam to be any sort of meals either. Only a breakfast or lunch deal (it was evening).

My 2nd time ordering and I was very disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, the flavours were fantastic but what I received what not what I expected by the photos.
I had the double 1/4 burger, which you’d expect to have 2 patties in being double and as per the picture, but I only received one which was a shame.
The fries, I order the GOURMET loaded cheese and bacon fries, again flavour was unreal but they cannot call what I received loaded or gourmet, there was hardly any cheese and it didn’t cover all of the fries, as for their description being ‘lavished with bacon’ I expected a good handful, not the 5 total bits pathetically thrown on (there were broken bits). It’s a shame as issues like this make you not want to order again, especially with it being slightly pricey.
My partner wasn’t hungry so he just had a brownie, he said it was really nice!

Came in a few weeks ago, whilst I was waiting for my food I overheard the manager speaking really poorly to one of the employees. Creates a really poor image for the company in my opinion. Wouldn’t recommend. Food was okay, lukewarm but tasted alright. I debated not posting this review but thought it was important for people to know how this business is run

Ordered through Just Eat, always a little wary ordering from a new takeaway. All I ordered was southern fried chicken strips and chips but WOW! The chips are incredible. The cut makes them cook so well and the flavour is like nothing I’ve ever tried before. The chicken, just as amazing and flavourful.
Highly recommend Surf ‘n’ Fries, I’ll 100% be trying more of the menu!

Had a lovely lunch in Surf n Fries, Thatcham.
Warm welcome by the staff, nice sunny spot on the corner and some lovely scran to boot!
I had the chicken strips and chips, the coating on the chicken was very tasty with chicken moist in the middle and the chips were absolutely gorgeous! Lovely and crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside and much to my surprise, not greasy in the slightest – I’m not sure how they did it but these are not your average chippy chips. As a big chip dipper, I appreciated my meal coming with two dips of my choice too.
I also sampled one of the sweet treats from the counter. There were a few options but I went for the Biscoff cake which was very yummy but had to be shared or a full food coma would have been on the cards!

ordered multiple times, never been disappointed. Burgers are lovely, chips are amazing (and generous portions) and the staff are really friendly and helpful. The milkshakes are a particular highlight. Cannot recommend highly enough!
