The service was mediocre, the food was mediocre and the price was mediocre. Overall, mediocre.

I’ve eaten at this restaurant and ordered takeout from them before, maybe around a dozen times since discovery. The food has always been consistent. The service is almost non-existent (but you don’t eat at these small businesses expecting much). This time around it was different.

I ordered #28; broken rice with grilled pork chop, beef ribs, steamed egg. Immediately I noticed the difference – the fried egg was the size of a quail egg…the steamed egg was half the size of a Bandaid, the beef ribs came with 2 x 1 link (instead of the usual and pictured 2 bones and 2 links *look at the picture*). The broth that came with was extremely salty. Silver lining? The shop lady gave me an extra piece of steamed egg. Thanks.

I understand food prices have gone up, labor has gone up, maybe rent went up…which is reflected in their menu with the new penned-over menu prices. But it’s tough to justify such small portions of food for $20. I wish this restaurant well and happy lunar new year but I will not be supporting this business as it cannot support my panging stomach.

Love,
A Vietnamese food enthusiast

So many people around me recommended this place. Definitely worth it. My boyfriend and I both got the house special pho. Filled with so much meat and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Broth was flavourful and light.
Would definitely come again!

The Bun Rieu is flavourful, however a large portion of soup is pricey and similar to a regular at other restaurants. The bowl was mostly noodles and not enough broth considering the size of the bowl, and the pork pieces were mostly fat.

The Com/rice dish was good, but misleading compared to the menu pictures. The amount of egg meatloaf is much less than the picture shows for example.

I tried the bún riêu special crab soup here and it was honestly so good. The broth is rich and flavorful, not too heavy, and the crab taste is really fresh. Noodles are cooked just right and everything comes together perfectly. Probably one of the best bún riêu I’ve had in Vancouver. ill definitely come back for it

The noodle dishes were good, but not so much for others. Overpriced I felt, esp. for the spring rolls and the crepe.
I was very disappointed at the spring rolls. It was very small, not much filling and the sheet was thick and hard to chew. I do not recommend their spring roll.

The service was fast, but maybe too fast. Server asked us what we wanted to order as soon as we sat down.
They charge you 2% on top of your bill if paying by credit card.

The only thing good was their basic pho, and most things are more like downtown price.

had rice w chicken here the other day and it hit the spot. The rice was soft and pork was tasty, and the whole plate came together nicely. The portion was actually really big i couldnt even finish it. Nothing fancy, just good comfort food that makes me really full n happy

Broth for the pho is very tasty. Bowls are not as big as other places, but it was big enough for me.

I would like to review Bun Rieu Phuong Nam restaurant.

Food: I ordered the House special Large with salad roll combo for extra $4.95. The house large pho itself is only $15.95. Price is so good. The broth was very clear yet deep with their own unique flavour. The portion was just enough for an average person. I wish there was a bit more meat though. 8.5/10.
Salad roll was below average, may be because it was part of a $4.95 combo. 7/10

Service: They greeted me as I came in. However, they didn’t come back after they served the dish. No checking in at all.
6.5/10

Overall: I quite enjoyed the meal. So far, they are No.1 Pho in the Edmonds area. If I am nearby, I will visit. I would recommend to everyone. 8/10

The Missus and I have frequented Bun Rieu Phuong Nam since its opening. We enjoy our pho and it is one of the few restaurants where they provide a full complement of bean sprouts, lettuce, basil, mint, hot peppers, jalapenos and lime. Combined all together, it gives the pho a wonderful depth of flavours. The Missus loves her favourite fresh fish with vermicelli pho. It’s also nice to have the option to combo your pho order with spring rolls, shrimp salad rolls and or coffee/drink. There is plenty of dedicated parking and the service is methodical but okay. Highly recommended for the food.

Good pricing for the food you get, the crab soup base was ok but lacked the crab flavor. The spring roll was nicely packed inside but a bit too over cooked. Overall good place for a great selection of soup noodle.
