Reviews
I really enjoyed my turkey cranberry wrap, and the included french fries were good too. It was a generous portion, we probably could have shared it and have had enough. On the other hand,my wife wasn’t thrilled with her goat cheese flatbread. It tasted ok to me.
We both had a cup of New England clam chowder. It was a little salty in our opinion, but I think most customers wouldn’t notice that.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is interesting and quaint, almost funky,in a good way.
Service was ok, rather slow, but not surprising because they were so busy, and there isn’t a big staff. My biggest gripe about the service is that it would have been nice to get our chowder sooner. It was served before our meal…..one minute before.
There are other items on the menu that we look forward to trying.
My sweet chili chicken wrap was the best I’ve had and we go to a lot of restaurants (what I mostly review). The crispy chicken sandwich was as hot and a lot of cheese and a two napkin meal, and that’s okay. Mine was too. Very happy we stopped in and I may want to stop back before we head home for that sweet wrap.
Thy have a lot of dishes in their menu and if it were later in the day I would have ordered a margarita. We took some homemade pop tarts to go and the one bite we took on raise to cabin was incredible, look forward to the rest.
It did take a little time for food to arrive but worth the wait and as we were leaving more tables were filling up.
Firstly, our meal arrived significantly delayed, necessitating the use of takeout. Despite the presence of four tables with eight individuals and the two of us, the restaurant failed to provide timely service!! We requested that our meal be packed in to-go boxes, despite my not caring for takeout.
Regarding the food, both of us ordered Ruben’s, which were subpar. The meat was excessively tough and stringy, excessively thick, and overly salty. It was extremely difficult to chew. The bottom bread was not adequately toasted, resulting in sogginess. I attempted to try the onion rings since we were told they were good, but they were excessively oily, soggy, and the breading was coming off. My friend ordered fries, which were equally greasy and soggy, and lacked flavor.
After completing our business, we returned to the restaurant to present the owner with the unsatisfactory food. She appeared somewhat irritated and asserted that their establishment was a five-star restaurant and had personally packed the boxes. If this were the case, the restaurant should have demonstrated greater attentiveness, as we observed her briefly depart and our boxes were not delivered for a considerable period. She offered a refund, which was a positive outcome.
Based on this experience, we have decided to refrain from returning to this restaurant.
UPDATE:
I know you’re trying to make the customer look bad, which is not a very professional thing to do. If you talk to your server she would have told you that we did not ask for takeout boxes until 45 minutes later. And yes, we brought our food back a couple hours later because we needed to eat and went somewhere else because we had appointments to attend. And yes, we did try to eat the food but was very disgusted about it. We are both cooks with over 50 years combined. We know how the brisket should be cooked in order for it to be tender. You do not need a refined pallet to know when meat has not been cooked properly. If you had been kind instead of leaving the young waitresses to take care of this situation, then they would’ve been no issues. Instead, you were arrogant and defensive, even after we try to explain to you the situation.
To the right of the entrance looks like a sterno/buffet table, it was not being used. It’s looking shabby so covering it with a table cloth would be an easy fix.
As for the help, the staff was kind, they were not very quick, the kitchen had problems and they opted not to tell us so we waited so long to get a taco to go whereas they could’ve just said can you pick something else because there was a problem with the fryer
I tried the mac & cheese because normally when a place has that many different varieties it’s good well this was dry. They really need to serve it with more sauce so that by the time you get to eat it, it’s not evaporated.
The fries are really dirty looking. I had paid extra for onion rings which were a greasy, stuck together mess. It was so soggy with oil probably because the fryer wasn’t working right, but they didn’t tell us that either.
Lastly, we had a reuben bcz the waitress said they cook the corned beef in house. I asked for it extra grilled to not be soggy.
WELL, what arrived as shown in the pic was a half grilled, poor sliced chewy mess. My husband tried to eat it as it was falling apart bcz it there was a grease grilled. I took a bite & the texture was bad which is sad because the flavor was good.
When we told the girl she could take it away I really didn’t imagine that she would have left it on the Bill. When I asked her about that, she said well, your husband ate it. I picked up his half of the sandwich which had 2 bites out of it, drooping not crunchy. She the manager wasn’t in..
Well, she should’ve really called the manager if she didn’t have authority to remove the Charge because that wasn’t good customer service. We had eaten lunch and cane back to try the mac n cheese 4 dinner. At minimum she could’ve at least offered us a slice of cake to split.
I hope that management takes this in consideration because they have a really nice space and they could make it look better and pay attention to presentation of food. I said to the waitress. when you saw that stringy meat on that plate, you should’ve handed it back to the kitchen and asked if they could remake it.
My partner and I visited for breakfast, and opted for the biscuits & gravy plate which includes home fries, and two eggs cooked to your liking. The cheddar chive biscuits were so tender, and full of flavor. The sausage gravy was loaded with sausage, super creamy, and seasoned perfectly. I am not typically one to enjoy home fries, but these were quite delicious with golden brown potatoes that were not too big, nor too small, with red bell pepper and onion. We chose scrambled eggs that were cooked light and fluffy. Overall, an excellent plate, and one could easily tell the food was prepared from scratch.
I’m speaking with the owner after our meal, and feeling quite content, we learned that the majority of the product from meats to produce, and more, are locally sourced from Franklin County. It’s a wonderful thing when a restaurant supports their local farmers just as this reviewer does. This support results in fresher product for the consumer too.
If you’re feeling a bit hungry, a local or a visitor, and want a wonderfully fresh from scratch meal, stop by the small town of Enosburg, and visit Bumblebee Bistro for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Please check their website for days and hours of operation.
Enjoy!
