Bull Shed is decent for Hawaii when it comes to pricing—especially the steaks, which are moderately priced compared to other local spots. The food was okay overall. The potato “skins” were more like halved baked potatoes than the traditional version. The shrimp pasta was good, though it leaned a little heavy on the Parmesan. The 6-layer chocolate cake was good but very dense.

The complimentary bread was a nice touch, especially since you don’t see much complimentary around here. It was good, though it would’ve been even better served warm.

The atmosphere felt like dining in the galley of an old ship—no A/C and a bit cramped. It was ok, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend it.

Look folks, this is a hard review after seeing so many high scores. The staff super nice and attentive. The food 3 stars. Local catch was grilled but a bit dry. The steaks, three, were all a little different color for medium. The atmosphere, for me it is awful. When I say atmosphere I’m only meaning the carpet, tables, walls and ceiling. Almost looks like a hazard. Paint from the ceiling starting to peal off. The outside wall is bowed. It’s 100% dated and for this kind of gross. If the seating area is like this, what about the kitchen? Ugh

We were going out for an anniversary celebration and wanted steak. This place had mixed reviews but we decided to give it a try and we were all so glad we did. The food was delicious and the staff was amazing and attentive. You could not beat the view either. It’s an all around great experience. Anyone saying the place was outdated is lacking the ability to see the charm and character in a place that’s been around for decades.

Really great steak place! Live music on a Friday night was a nice touch. Fire grilled steaks were delicious, and the grilled shrimp were perfect
I’ll dream about the cake until I come back to the island again.
It was sooooo good!!!!

I was hesitant to try this place after reading so many mixed reviews—people either love it or hate it. Here’s the scoop…

This was my first visit, mainly because I knew it was on the pricey side. Finding the restaurant was interesting since it’s tucked away off the highway. The building looks a bit aged, but given its oceanfront location, that’s to be expected in Hawaii. My Ohana lives here, so we understand what salt air does to a place.

We were celebrating a 50th anniversary and had reservations for a party of eight. They seated us at the best table in the house— a corner spot with open windows overlooking the ocean, letting in a beautiful breeze. For a short time before sunset, the sun was in our faces, but it wasn’t a big deal.

Our waitress was incredibly patient while we took our time deciding what to order and checked on us a couple of times throughout the meal.

Everyone loved their food and came prepared for a higher price point. I had the lobster with an 8 oz prime sirloin, cooked medium rare. It was perfect. That particular cut is generally tougher than others, but it was surprisingly tender. The side salad with Hawaiian dressing was fresh and flavorful, and the drawn butter was delicious over the white rice (a typical Hawaiian-style pairing).

My husband had the bone-in prime rib and was in heaven—he couldn’t even finish it! Others in our party ordered shrimp and ahi tuna and were equally impressed.

The only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five is the cocktails. Aside from the Blue Hawaiian, they were served in small, average-looking glasses with too much ice, making them feel watered down and lacking in presentation.

Overall, the food, service, and oceanfront atmosphere made for a fantastic experience. I’d definitely return! (If I could afford it)

Scallops appetizer was overcooked and the Parmesan cheese on top was closer to mozzarella, potato “skins” were essentially halves of loaded baked potatoes with canned bacon bits, prime rib was chewy and tough, old fashioned and isotini cocktails were not very tasty. The bread was delicious though!

I tried their pasta special and it was great. The sauce was perfectly salted and complemented the dish perfectly. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the shrimp, mushrooms, and scallops were well-seasoned and taste great!

I also tried their lamb chops and they were good as well. The meat was tender and cooked to perfection, and the flavor was juicy and the attention to detail in every dish.

Overall, I had an outstanding experience at Bull Shed Restaurant and would highly recommend it to anyone

Good place to get a steak. The know how to cook, as our order came out a perfect medium. The New York Strip was a little tough, but the Prime Rib was perfect! The shrimp skewer was great as well! Skip the cheesecake and go for the hawaiinan pie for dessert!

I usually keep my negative experiences to myself. As much as I didn’t want to do it. The experience should be shared for the type of price point establishment it’s insinuating.
Our party had to wait for a table as we arrived, understable. What was not understable, was waiting because the staff were to engaged in personal conversations to set the table up. Once their conversations were done. Table was set up and seated. At least we had some entertainment while waiting, but he’s far from patrons to enjoy. He should be moved technically where we were seated.
When the food arrived, it was disappointing. While the food looks good in the pictures, the pictures are deceiving! We ordered two prime rib both the same way. But why does it both taste different? Mac N Cheese was litterly Kraft. Desserts look good, but everything is previously and still frozen, just dressed up with whipped cream. Even the ice cream scoop is pre scooped and frozen in the cup, when given.
The staff was nice when interacting, however processes needs to be reviewed. As a sub higher end establishment, I get staffing will congergrat and have conversations, but do it in the back area, where patrons can’t hear personal conversations. Our waitress glanced at our table numerous times, knowing we needed refills. When she finally checked up on us, we had to ask for refills for our other beverages. We assumed she went to get our refills, but that was not the case. She walked pass our table four times without acknowledgement or refills at this point. Even gave the check to the other patrons right next to us with no acknowledgement. Our dissatisfaction just kept increasing. It was 17 minutes later that she finally checked up on how we were doing, with a pitcher of water, but without our other beverages. At this point, we didn’t even bother to ask, we wanted to leave. She asked if we wanted take out boxes because there was so much food left on the table, but we declined as it wasn’t even worth taking it home.
Could’ve been a one off night, time will tell. Food quality and service definitely needs improvement.

Rack of lamb! What can I say? My choice each and every time I’m there! I normally have the whole rack served but this time I ordered the medium rare rack which was individually cut (between rib bones) and then charred over fire! I had 8 rib bones of lamb! Amazing, so succulent and tender! Top it off with baked potato with everything on it! No salad bar and all you can eat bread, since COVID. Wonder why?
