Buena Onda punches far above its weight and is better than it has any right to be. It’s an extremely affordable fast food/fast casual taco spot but I’ll be honest, they are serving the best tacos I’ve had in the city. Yes, they aren’t fancy or crazy unique but they are consistently high quality with fresh ingredients and delicious and varied flavors at a price point that I don’t fully understand.

The happy hour has recently changed, but previously it was $4 fish tacos which were absolutely delicious. Now, it’s $3 tacos for al pastor, as well as few different chicken options. Drinks are also crazy cheap, but still strong and taste pretty good. $5 margaritas and sangrias during happy hour and beers are even cheaper. So for excellent tacos and drinks for two people you can have a tasty meal under $30, which I don’t think I can say about anywhere else.

While the interior is pretty basic, I will mention that the service is very friendly and helpful. It’s fast food style but they’ll bring out your food to your table and take away your trash as well, and like the food the service is better than it has any right to be. I highly recommend stopping by!

Food is always prepared well with fresh ingredients. Nice people. Music is always good. Really good fountain sodas. I can usual find a seat. Walking distance to the Barnes Foundation. Gluten free choices. Street parking and a large pay lot across the street

Buena Onda was solid! The food is was fresh and full of flavor. The ingredients were vibrant, the vibe is chill and reminds me of a west coast vibe (beach, Cali vibe), and you can really taste the quality in every bite. One of my new spots in Philly for something fresh and flavorful!

Especially the Short Rib Quesadilla and the Fish Tacos!

I love this place!!! Been here twice and it doesn’t disappoint. The fish tacos, crispy beef taco and chicken adobe quesadilla and nacos are my faves. Price is great! Quesadilla is a bit pricey for two slices. Wish there were 3 for $15 but only has two. Overall, clean environment and very fresh tasty food!!

Love the food. Delicious fillings, soft fresh tacos. Had the Baja Fried tofu taco and kale and mushroom taco. Also had esquites and rice&beans.

All the food is excellent. Staff is top notch. Music is good.
Definitely repeat.

I was hype when I saw this restaurant on 6abc news FYI.
I went and tried this for lunch.
To my surprise I was disappointed at the size and portions. My coworkers and I brought the skinny Baja fried fish and shrimp, Tequila lime grill fish and chips and guacamole. It was more pickled red cabbage and guacamole on the taco than need to be. (See photos)
The chips and guacamole was half filled in the container.
It wasn’t worth the price. All of it should have been half price for the portions.
We were not satisfied.
Hopefully, others enjoy their food.

I had the pastor and Tonga de pollo tacos. I honestly did not feel that the food was tasty. Like it wasn’t bad, but was it flavorful ? Not really. I ate, I left.

Service was great, atmosphere just fine.

I love their Baja tacos! Some of the most delicious tacos I’ve ever had. My killer combo is two of the Baja fish or shrimp tacos, a cup of orange cream soda, and a plate of churros with the dulce de leche dipping sauce. I will come back here time and time again because it’s so good!

It used to be a really good place up until six months ago or so. Then they jumped up their prices ($18 for a bowl instead of $13!!), but lowered the level of the food.
Now you get less and pay more.
In the picture is the two tacos I ordered for takeout, which cost together a little over $11. As you can see, it came with only one (!) slice of avocado for the fish taco, and the chicken taco also looked really poor with just two lousy pieces of chicken. Won’t be buying there again.
