Overall, Budsi Thai was excellent. We had a wait a few minutes in line to order (you pay up front then sit down), and the food came extremely quick ~ 10 minutes tops. Beef stir fry with egg was by far my favorite dish, super rich and creamy. Recommend getting it if you’re torn between dishes to choose from. Servers were very accommodating and friendly too!

My friend and I walked to this restaurant. The neighborhood is not amazing, in my opinion. But wow, the food is excellent. You go to the counter and order and they bring your food very quickly. We had steamed pork buns, Budsi’s noodles with shrimp and a cucumber salad. The buns were delicious…. Think we inhaled them. The noodles were spicy but mildly, and superb. The cucumber salad was so spicy and sweet and delicious! We didn’t finish it… I’m pretty sure we were flaming inside. We did uber back to our hotel.

We stopped here for dinner during our visit to New Orleans! I think it may be some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had. The restaurant itself is decently sized with a good amount of seating. It is “self serve” – in the sense that you go up and order and seat yourself. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
For food, we got the papaya salad, which is delicious and SPICY! (honestly all of the food was spicy! in the best way). We got the fried rice, which was delicious… smoky and perfect amount of shrimp. The budsi’s noodles were also great – the side sauce that it came with was a good pairing. The waterfall pork was delicious! Tangy and spicy, I don’t like anything I’ve ever had of it Thai restaurant. Would definitely come back here again!

Ate there twice. The mushroom Larb, pad thai and fried bok choy were all excellent (5 stars). The second time we got fried rice and pad see ew to go, and those were a solid 3. Not sure whether there was a different cook at lunch or they don’t bother about the to go orders but it was quite disappointing.
It also struck me that you line up at the counter to order and yet the tip presets start at 18%. Maybe it’s the times we live in but I did literally just do half the server’s job so I don’t really get how this makes sense.

The cashier recommended the Khao Soi soup and it was DELICIOUS. I got it with beef and it was a little under $20 with tax and tip. You order at the counter and then sit. I sat near the kitchen and they refilled my water despite having a water station in the corner. Great service overall.

When I say this is some of the best food I’ve ever tasted, I’m serious. I have visited 3 days in a row. It is definitely not a hit or miss, its always a hit!! Rest assured if you visit here, you will not be disappointed. I’m going out of town for a few days but will definitely be back here many more times before I go back home to Scotland. Ps, I would like to add that I am someone who is extremely fussy with food. I struggle in any country to find a place to eat, that isn’t McDonalds. Thank you so much to all the staff, you’re all so polite and helpful 🙂
I’d taken a bite of the chicken before I took the picture

Decent food. Liked what we have but would preffered more geneous papaya salad serving. Duck Curry wasn’t too good as it is just boiled duck, not crispy duck. Pad See Ew with crispy Pork Belly is super good

Papaya salad was tasty but WAAAAYYYY too spicy…. Almost beyond consumption. The red curry with chicken was the best dish. It has eggplant in it but it’s a Thai eggplant….. and not much of it, didn’t compare to your traditional eggplant. Thai stir fry with crispy pork was good, but not crispy. Tom Yum soup with shrimp was what I expected however the shrimp had the heads and tails on making it a little difficult to eat. It contained 4 large shrimp. Each of the the dishes mentioned were $15 each. With the papaya salad being the most overpriced considering the portion size and lack of a protein. The place itself was nice because it wasn’t decorated with dusty fake flowers as most Thai restaurants are. High ceilings, clean, ample seating as well as outdoor seating. You do have to order at a counter and receive a number.

Great food // ordered the same dish twice bc honestly 3 shrimp for a shrimp entree was super super disappointing.
Would return – but will do so when it’s not Lent and can eat meat so I can get full!
Good service. But need more shrimp!

Budsi’s has been my go-to spot for Thai for over five years. The order lines are nearly out the front door most days I come. Their Thai curries and appetizers are top-notch; their noodle dishes aren’t my favorite that I’ve had anywhere, but still are quite good. Their bar also offers diverse cocktails, beers, and wines. They’re consistently very good, and I usually get takeout once or twice per month and like to bring friends in town there as well.
