This is not a Pizza Hut, Little Ceasars, or other national franchise pizza place. This is only in Michigan (at the time of this review) and has been around for 70+ years.
The atmosphere is set up like a typical bar/restaurant with open seating to one side and the bar with TV screens and high-top tables on the other.
They serve “Detroit-style” pizza – square, crisp crust and lots of cheese. There are multiple types of flavors, or a build-your-own.
Basically two sizes: 4-square and 8-square. A 4-square is good for one person with a good appetite, or to share for two people looking for a light meal.
For me, it’s a bit of an acquired taste – the sauces seemed a little sweeter than I expected, but that may because I had a Hawaiian Pizza that included barbecue sauce.
Worth the visit. I’d go back and try some other items to see how those taste.
Free surface lot parking and handicapped accessible.

The crust on the pizza is like toasted bruschetta bread. It’s crunchy and soft at the same time. The cheese is definitely cheesin’! The sauce on the pizza is flavorful and perfect! The portions on the 4 square are enough for 2 people. Their individual salads are large too. The Greek Salad was excellent. It comes with a creamy garlic parmesan dressing thats so good!
The restaurant is beautiful and the atmosphere is family friendly! Im glad we stopped here for lunch! Thanks again Matthew!

We came in with a fairly large group of 9 but we were all able to be sat together. While the staff was very nice, the waitress forgot to put in my husband and my order so while everyone else got their food, we ended up having to wait for another 20 minutes until we got our food. That being said, they did give us our food free if charge due to the oversight.
That aside, that was some amazing pizza. The gluten free crust was not thin and dry like you see with a lot of crusts and felt more like a “normal” crust than I see with most places. It was excellent. I got the Henry Ford which also had blue cheese on it. If you’ve never put blue cheese on a pizza, it’s a fun adventure. Try it! I will also mention that this pizza did reheat well as we had leftovers. Thumbs up to the folks who made the food and to the one who picked the menu and picked the supplies to make it. The whole thing came over great!

First time visiting this place. Can say was not disappointed.Food was fantastic!!My daughter and I loved the mozzarella sticks and we both love the loaded fries which were made with wedge fries!! Our pizzas were also fantastic, with the crispy crust around the edge, oh my! I usually don’t eat the crust on any pizza but couldn’t resist this one. Our waitress was really great to friendly and took care to see to anything we needed. Thank You Buddy’s Pizza! Keep up the great work of serving great food. Will definitely be back and will recommend you to family and friends

Buddy’s Detroit Style Pizza is really good! We had the “6 Mile Pizza”… The comes in either 4 squares or 8. We had the four squares and it was enough for two people, but next time we will probably add an appetizer or maybe a salad in addition to the pizza. The atmosphere was nice and the wait staff was awesome. There is a separate bar area and lots of dining room spaces. The bathrooms were clean and fresh. I believe this would be a fine place for families. I’m sure we will be back again soon. We really enjoyed the crust! Give this Detroit style pizza place a try! Buddy’s is the real deal I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Give them a try!

Our waitress was phenomenal. I forget her name and forgot the receipt unfortunately. We ordered a mixed drink, buddy’s bread, Mac and cheese, Margarita pizza on thin crust and a Motown Museum pizza on original crust. Everything was better than anticipated. We were starving and this hit every spot we wanted .
We will be back in the city again and definitely will be hitting this place back up!

Legit Detroit style pizza and more. Came in for a family birthday celebration and our party of 8 was seated quickly. Our server Ty was pleasant and very informative about the menu items. Started with a family style caesar salad and Buddy Bread then onto our pizza choices. One Pepperoni, one ham and pineapple and one sausage and mushroom. All had that perfect caramelized crust you would expect from this style of pizza. Also had a meat lovers mac n cheese which is 2 1/2 meals in itself! The birthday boy finished out the meal with a complimentary ice cream . Great experience for our first visit to this location.

Update: After our first visit, the level of consistency was not the same. We tried take out, ordered a margherita deep dish and unfortunately the base of the pizza was hard. The flavor could have been better.
For our cousin’s birthday, we had dinner there and the pizza we received was kind of cold and did not taste as fresh as the first time. The flavor was just not there, and our pizza was very bland. The waitress who took care of us was amazing. She kept checking on us and made sure to remember our orders and requests. The rest of their staff was also very kind and made us feel welcome. I love this place, so I hope they are able to maintain the level they had when they opened going forward.

They went beyond my expectations! The pizza is hands down the best I have tasted! They taste better than the original store! Beautiful ambience, and our server Ty kept checking on us to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Can’t wait to go back again!
We tried their carry out, you get a 10% discount for orders placed online with their coupon code. Once home the pizza was not as hot, so would definitely recommend eating at the restaurant to enjoy the whole experience. Also I think the toppings add more flavor, and we ordered just the regular cheese to see what it tasted like. So will make sure I get toppings from next time, all in all still a great pizza.

Update:They Recently upgraded their outdoor dining with heated pods(only way to dine in at a restaurant as of now)
First of all I have been to the Original Buddy’s Pizza location in Detroit so I do know what a Buddy’s famous Detroit style pizza is.
The Restaurant is really nice and they did a fabulous job renovating the Old Chicago location. Great Ambience!. We had ordered the original Detroit Style Pizza and boy was it good!. Infact I felt like it was better than the one the Original location Had.
Plus Shoutout to our server TY who displayed great customer service skills.
Although The Pizza is a little on the pricier side but it’s totally worth it!
