We were a party of 17 so we definitely made a reservation ahead of time. The restaurant is very large and the nice thing was we did not feel crowded at all.
Interesting and kitschy decor.
Our server, unfortunately I do not remember his name, was excellent. I have to say the customer service we received from the hostess to the server was phenomenal.
I was not disappointed in the food and thought that it was good, but not great. I live in Montreal, and that city knows Italian food so I am not a good judge of Italian food as I am very spoiled that way. However, everyone I was with (all from Utah) enjoyed the food.
This restaurant is family style so you order dishes and share.
We started with two large salads, the Apple gorgonzola (excellent), and the Caesar (good). Along with a large order of garlic bread (okay).
For the main course we ordered the chicken parmesan (adequate), the chicken limone (good) , the baked rigatoni (good), the cheese manicotti (did not have any), and the brussel sprouts and prosciutto (excellent). The quantities were quite generous. For dessert we had the tiramisu (very good).
The prices were reasonable. 17 of us were absolutely stuffed and we split the bill evenly with each paying $24 including the tip. Included into this price were several cokes, a glass of house wine, and a pitcher of sangria.
It was a very enjoyable evening.
The mozzarella bread is a must!
I regularly eat at the one in Chandler, Arizona
Unfortunately, I have never had issues at one of these restaurants like I had at Buca di Beppo in Salt Lake City. First, it took forever to get drinks. From order to drink delivery was over 15 minutes. Every time.
Second, we ordered the chicken lemon, and it came out hard as a rock. The chicken was so overcooked it was about 1/3 of the normal size. Since I eat this meal regularly, I know exactly how it all cats should look and that was not it.
The only saving grace was that the waitress did her best to try make up for it, as did the manager. Having worked in the restaurant industry for almost 20 years, I understand that things happen, people have off days, and that mistakes sometimes are made that normally are not. That was why they got the points for atmosphere and service.
Hopefully, they will do better next time. They have invited me back, though I don’t know when I will be in Salt Lake City.
We even had the garlic bread, which actually has real garlic and tasted divine.
