This place was great, we got seated rather quickly. The host told us there was a wait, and before we could sit down there was an opening. The host was nice, and very polite, he took us to our seats right away. The waitress was great, she was very polite and took care of us. She made sure we had a refill for the road in our souvenir cups! We order 2 appetizer, 1 fried green tomatoes, 2 fried pickles chips. And We got the Captains platter and split it all Between my wife, daughter and I. The food was really fresh and it was goooood. We played tic tac toe and checked out all the decor. We will go back and I highly recommend Bubbas!!

I hate to leave a bad review, especially of an establishment where I’ve had great experiences in years past, but in this case it is merited.
After ordering the grouper fingers and sweet potato fries I received regular fries and grouper fingers fried so much that most of what was left is grease soaked breading and practically no fish. My mother literally gagged after eating a few bites. Great take out service at the bar – I just expected for a Surfside staple to continue to serve high quality grub as I had hoped for.

We were seated quickly, our waiter was Daniel. He was very attentive, courteous and friendly. He got our drinks and appetizers order quickly. Our food was fantastic, hot and fresh. Our drinks were never empty and he took great care of us. Thank you for a wonderful evening out with friends, we will definitely be back!

This was our second trip to this location and it was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, came out quick, and was enough for two in each entree. Our server Emily was friendly, fun, and very attentive. The atmosphere is great especially all of the old nautical collectibles. Will come back again next time we are in Myrtle Beach.

This is my favorite non-buffet restaurant in the Surfside Beach/Myrtle Beach area. You should order the blackened grouper pictured here. It’s juicy and was probably the best grouper I’ve ever had. The Mahi also and catfish also tasted great, although the grouper was the best.
My wife ordered a fish sandwich pictured here, which was huge and came with a generous portion of fries. Our children enjoyed the fried pickle chips (as did I).
I give credit to our server Daniel, who did excellent work. He kept drinks refilled, constantly smiled, and was just a great person to have.
What would I change? Two things to remember:
1. Depending on the time you arrive you may have a long wait. When we arrived the hostess told us it would take an hour to get a table. We decided to wait. It actually took about 5 minutes, but the expectation was there. The last time we went here it took probably 45 minutes to get a seat.
2. The onion rings are good, but not great. I forgot to take a photo. My opinion is that the best onion rings are the biggest and juiciest because they have the most flavor. The onion rings here are mid size. They taste good and I may order them again. It’s just that they could be better.
UPDATE: After I posted this review the owner replied I should try the onion rings at River City Cafe. I immediately looked up the menu online. The onion rings are at the top with a photo. They look like giant juicy onion rings—in other words, fabulous. If Bubba’s adopted those onion rings it would have that item set.

Great food, big portions and reasonable prices. Our waitress Lakin was awesome! My wife had the gulf shrimp platter with sweet potato fries, coleslaw and hush puppies. I had the unicorn fish special with fries, coleslaw and hush puppies.

I had the chicken tenders because I am not a seafood person. But my wife say the crab cakes and hush puppies were the best she has had.
The atmosphere fits the name.

The family and I are in town for new years and was looking for someplace near the Market Commons area and found Bubba’s through Yelp. There was no wait, since it is the off season they were not busy when we arrived at 6:00pm. The fried pickles were crispy and hot. My son got the popcorn shrimp with fries, my daughter got the big ole salad, my wife ordered the fried flounder basket and I got the first mate combo with fried oysters and fried grouper fingers. Everything came in a timely manner and was well cooked. My entrée came with fries, coleslaw, as well as hushpuppies. The fries were thick cut, crispy and fluffy on thr inside. The oysters were fresh, plump, and fried to perfection. The grouper was mild and had a great texture. The only weakness was the hushpuppies. They were golden brown with a good crust, but the centers were very dense. Service was great, but once we were done eating our server disappeared. After waiting for what was more than likely a shorter period of time than it felt, I ended up standing up and started to put my coat on, this finally got his attention. But that is a minor quip. I recommend this place hands down.
