For over 40 years, we have shared our own family recipes, created from our Texas country roots. Using the highest quality ingredients, we only serve the food our family loves…and we love mashed potatoes, chicken-fried steak, catfish, green beans, yeast rolls, black-eyed peas, grilled chicken tenders, and lots and lots of fried chicken, among several other vegetables and menu choices. Since 1981 we have proudly served as many as four generations of folks within the same family. We love the relationships that our food and service has created between us and all of our guests. Whether you are a first-timer or a valued regular, we absolutely appreciate you and want to do our best on your behalf every day. We love to “Cook Country…come join

Bubba’s is the kind of place where you can enjoy a meal before or after an SMU football game, cater large portions for an event at home, or simply grab takeout to enjoy anytime. Highly recommend.
The lack of basic hygiene and the complete disregard for customer safety here are huge red flags
First, I was served a cup of ice that had a frozen roach inside one of the cubes!! I was so shocked and disgusted that I didn’t even think to take a picture. When I brought it to the manager’s attention, she didn’t apologize or show any concern. Nothing.
I asked for a cup without ice, and instead she kept insisting on giving me more ice..like I didn’t just pull a roach out of my drink. When she finally handed me a cup with no ice, there was a facial or pubic hair stuck on the side!
Having to request multiple clean cups and still getting no apology is honestly unbelievable.
As for the food, the cinnamon roll was the only thing worth finishing. Everything else was forgettable. This establishment seriously needs to reevaluate its cleanliness standards and staff training, because this wasn’t just a bad experience… it was a health concern.
Deborah, you have a fantastic team behind you.
The whole experience was perfect. I ordered chicken-fried steak, smashed potatoes with gravy, a biscuit, and cornbread, and was not left dissatisfied. Everything was the best I’ve ever had. I go all over the place for food, but appreciate the dining experiences even more because of people like Deborah. I can’t wait to be back and have the heavenly smashed potatoes.
10/10.
Hands down the best banana pudding I have ever had! Its a baked custard (not boring pudding) with a mirage like topping that us slightly toasted and tons of nilla cookies and banana slices.
My favorites were the fried chicken and grilled chicken. Do not underestimate the grilled chicken it was juice and very well seasoned.
As for sides the mashed potatoes, green beans and years rolls are best. Mash either has heavy cream or cheese or both sooth and creamy but not too heavy. Yeast rolls are big and yet dense with a strong yeast flavor. Green beans are cooked with ham and are on the soft side.
Chicken fried stake, gravy and bbq were good but not my preferred place for those items.
Thinking they exaggerated, I called the manager to ask him to please let people know when they are out of food. Oh my, was he full of himself. He told me they had people waiting two hours just to get sides and he had zero empathy for my meager hour and 45 minutes. He stated he was not going to ever let people know they were out of food. People can just wait. He hung up on me. I called him back. “Mam, I’m not going to tell you what you want to hear. I am not going to apologize to you. You aren’t special in any way.” After waiting so long I lost it. I admit I let a string of “F” bombs out. I had no issue with their food being so good that they ran out, I have no issue that I waited far too long in line or that they are never going to let people know when they are out of food. I do have issue with the manager’s unbelievably ugly attitude.
So, if you are in line, know that if they run out of food, not only will they not tell you, but they will give you crap if you even try to suggest that is not nice or kind.
The old Bubbas I knew and loved for decades is dead! As long as this manager works there, you’ll get home cooking with side of snarky, rude and zero empathy.
Look at my other reviews. Almost all 5 stars. It takes a lot to rile me up!
